AC.530, 창5:29, '이름을 노아라 하여 이르되'(AC.528-531)

※ 본 장에 나오는 이름들은 지금까지 말씀드린 대로 교회나, 혹은 같은 말이지만, 교리를 의미합니다. 교회는 교리를 가지고 존재하거나, 또는 교리에 기반한 어떤 이름들을 갖기 때문인데요, 그래서 ‘노아’ 역시 그런 식으로 고대교회를 의미하거나, 혹은 태고교회에 기반을 둔 어떤 남은 교리를 의미합니다.

 

29절, 이름을 노아라 하여 이르되 여호와께서 땅을 저주하시므로 수고롭게 일하는 우리를 이 아들이 안위하리라 하였더라 And he called his name Noah, saying, He shall comfort us from our work, and the toil of our hands, out of the ground which Jehovah hath cursed.

본 장에 나오는 이름들은 지금까지 말씀드린 대로 교회나, 혹은 같은 말이지만, 교리를 의미합니다. 교회는 교리를 가지고 존재하거나, 또는 교리에 기반한 어떤 이름들을 갖기 때문인데요, 그래서 ‘노아’ 역시 그런 식으로 고대교회를 의미하거나, 혹은 태고교회에 기반을 둔 어떤 남은 교리를 의미합니다. 교회나 교리들의 경우, 이미 기술한 대로 그들은 기울어집니다. 즉 신앙의 선과 진리가 더이상 하나도 남아 있지 않은 상태로까지 기울어지는데, 그래서 그때 그런 걸 말씀에서는 교회가 황폐해졌다고 하는 것입니다. 그러나 여전히 리메인스, 즉 신앙의 선과 진리를 가진 일부 사람들은 늘 남아 보존됩니다. 비록 그 수는 아주 적지만 말입니다. 신앙의 선과 진리가 이 정말 얼마 안 되는 사람들한테서라도 보존되지 않으면 천국과 인류가 결합하는 일이 없기 때문입니다. 어떤 한 사람 개인 안에 있는 리메인스에 대하여 보면, 이것이 적을수록 그는 그가 소유한 이성과 지식에 관한 것이 덜 밝아지는데, 그 이유는 선과 진리의 빛은 리메인스로부터, 즉 주님으로부터 리메인스를 통해 흘러들어오기 때문입니다. 만일 사람 안에 리메인스가 전혀 남아 있지 않으면 그는 사람(a man)이라 할 수 없고, 대신 짐승보다 훨씬 더 끔찍한 그 무엇이 될 수 있습니다. 리메인스가 적을수록 그는 사람이 아니며, 리메인스가 많을수록 그는 사람입니다. 리메인스는 마치 밤하늘의 별과 같습니다. 별이 적을수록 별빛은 희미하지만, 별이 많으면 별빛도 밝은 것처럼 말입니다. 태고교회로부터 겨우 살아남은 것들이 ‘노아’라는 교회를 구성하는 사람들 가운데 있었습니다만, 그러나 그 남은 것들은 퍼셉션이 아닌, 온전함(perfection)에 관한 리메인스들이며, 또 교리에 관한 리메인스들이었는데, 이 교리는 태고교회 퍼셉션에 속한 것들에서 나온 것입니다. 이렇게 해서 이제 새 교회가 주님으로 말미암아 일어났는데, 이 교회는 태고교회들하고는 태생적으로 완전히 다른 교회로서 고대교회라 하였고, 여기서 고대(ancient)라는 것은, 홍수 전 시대 끝 무렵에 존재, 홍수 후 처음 동안 있었던 데서 온 것입니다. 이 교회에 관해서는 주님의 신적 자비로 나중에 더 말씀드리겠습니다. By the names in this chapter, as we have said, are signified churches, or what is the same, doctrines; for the church exists and has its name from doctrine; thus by “Noah” is signified the ancient church, or the doctrine that remained from the most ancient church. How the case is with churches or doctrines has already been stated, namely, that they decline, until there no longer remains anything of the goods and truths of faith, and then the church is said in the Word to be vastated. But still remains are always preserved, or some with whom the good and truth of faith remain, although they are few; for unless the good and truth of faith were preserved in these few, there would be no conjunction of heaven with mankind. As regards the remains that are in a man individually, the fewer they are the less can the matters of reason and knowledge that he possesses be enlightened, for the light of good and truth flows in from the remains, or through the remains, from the Lord. If there were no remains in a man he would not be a man, but much viler than a brute; and the fewer remains there are, the less is he a man, and the more remains there are, the more is he a man. Remains are like some heavenly star, which, the smaller it is the less light it gives, and the larger, the more light. The few things that remained from the most ancient church were among those who constituted the church called Noah; but these were not remains of perception, but of perfection, and also of doctrine derived from the things of perception in the most ancient churches; and therefore a new church was now raised up by the Lord, which being of an entirely different native character from the most ancient churches, is to be called the ancient church—ancient from the fact that it existed at the close of the ages before the flood, and during the first period after it. Of this church, by the Divine mercy of the Lord, more will be said hereafter.
