7절, 네가 선을 행하면 어찌 낯을 들지 못하겠느냐 선을 행하지 아니하면 죄가 문에 엎드려 있느니라 죄가 너를 원하나 너는 죄를 다스릴지니라 If thou doest well, art thou not exalted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door; and to thee is his desire, and thou rulest over him.

두 번째로, ‘선을 행하지 아니하면 죄가 문에 엎드려 있느니라’는 만일 네가 선을 행할 마음이 없는 사람이라면 너는 체어리티의 사람이 아니고 대신 악인이라는 것입니다. 누구나 알 수 있는 건 ‘죄가 문에 엎드려 있느니라’가 안으로 들어가고자 준비를 마치고 대기 중인 악을 말한다는 사실입니다. 체어리티가 모두 사라지게 되면, 그때는 오직 무자비함과 증오, 결과적으로는 모든 악만 남기 때문입니다. 일반적으로 죄를 가리켜 ‘악마’(the devil)라고 하지요, 이 악마는 체어리티가 결핍된 사람에게 아주 가까이 와 있는, 지옥과도 같이 끔찍한 그의 동료입니다. 마음 문 앞에 와 있는 이 악마와 그의 동료를 쫓아버리는 유일한 방법은 주님 사랑, 이웃 사랑입니다. Secondly, it is said, “If thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door,” which signifies, If thou art not well disposed, there is no charity present, but evil. Everybody can see that “sin lying at the door” is evil ready and desirous to enter; for when there is no charity there are unmercifulness and hatred, consequently all evil. Sin in general is called the “devil,” who, that is, his crew of infernals, is ever at hand when man is destitute of charity; and the only means of driving away the devil and his crew from the door of the mind is love to the Lord and toward the neighbor.
