Each Society in Heaven Reflects a Single Man

나는 천국의 각 공동체가 한 사람인 것을 자주 보았다. 빛의 천사로 가장하는 위선적인 영들이 많이 잠입해 들어가는 어떤 공동체가 있었다. 이 영들이 천사들로부터 분리되는 과정을 보면, 처음엔 그 공동체 전체가 어렴풋이 하나의 몸으로 보이고, 다음엔 사람 비슷한 형태로 되다가 나중에 분명한 사람 모습이 된다. 이때 그 사람 형태 안에 포함되어 그 사람 형태를 이루는 이들은 그 사회의 선이 있는 천사들이고, 그렇지 못한 이들은 위선자들이었다. 그렇게 해서 분리가 이루어졌다. 위선자들은 말과 행동이 선하지만, 매사에 자기 자신을 위하는 사람들이다. 그들은 주님과 천국, 사랑과 천국 생활에 대해 천사처럼 말하고, 그 말과 같이 보이려고 바르게 행동하지만, 생각은 다르며, 자기만을 믿고 자기만 잘되기를 바란다. 그들의 선한 행동은 보이기 위한 것이므로 남이 아니라 자기를 위한 것이다. I have frequently been permitted to see that each society of heaven reflects a single man, and is in the likeness of a man. There was a society into which several had insinuated themselves who knew how to counterfeit angels of light. These were hypocrites. When these were being separated from the angels I saw that the entire society appeared at first like a single indistinct body, then by degrees in a human form, but still indistinctly, and at last clearly as a man. Those that were in that man and made up the man were such as were in the good of that society; the others who were not in the man and did not make up the man were hypocrites; these were cast out and the former were retained; and thus a separation was effected. Hypocrites are such as talk well and also do well, but have regard to themselves in everything. They talk as angels do about the Lord, heaven, love, and heavenly life, and also act rightly, so that they may appear to be what they profess to be. But their thinking is different; they believe nothing; and they wish good to none but themselves. Their doing good is for the sake of self, or if for the sake of others it is only for the appearance, and thus still for the sake of self.
