창3:7-13
7이에 그들의 눈이 밝아져 자기들이 벗은 줄을 알고 무화과나무 잎을 엮어 치마로 삼았더라 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves girdles. 8그들이 그 날 바람이 불 때 동산에 거니시는 여호와 하나님의 소리를 듣고 아담과 그의 아내가 여호와 하나님의 낯을 피하여 동산 나무 사이에 숨은지라 And they heard the voice of Jehovah God going to itself in the garden in the air of the day; and the man and his wife hid themselves from the face of Jehovah God in the midst of the tree of the garden. 9여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며 그에게 이르시되 네가 어디 있느냐 And Jehovah God cried unto the man [homo], and said unto him, Where art thou? 10이르되 내가 동산에서 하나님의 소리를 듣고 내가 벗었으므로 두려워하여 숨었나이다 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11이르시되 누가 너의 벗었음을 네게 알렸느냐 내가 네게 먹지 말라 명한 그 나무 열매를 네가 먹었느냐 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12아담이 이르되 하나님이 주셔서 나와 함께 있게 하신 여자 그가 그 나무 열매를 내게 주므로 내가 먹었나이다 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13여호와 하나님이 여자에게 이르시되 네가 어찌하여 이렇게 하였느냐 여자가 이르되 뱀이 나를 꾀므로 내가 먹었나이다 And Jehovah God said unto the woman, Why hast thou done this? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

하지만 그들은 자신들이 악 가운데 있음을 지각했는데요, 그들의 ‘눈이 밝아져’(their eyes being opened)와 그들이 ‘여호와 하나님의 소리를 듣고’(their hearing the voice of Jehovah)가 상징하는, 그들에게 아직 퍼셉션(perception)이 남아 있음(7-8절), 그리고 치마를 만들어 입은 무화과나무 잎들(7절), 그리고 동산 나무 사이에 부끄러워 숨음(8-9절), 뿐만 아니라 자신들이 저지른 짓을 시인하고 고백하는 모습(10-13절)들을 볼 때, 분명한 사실은 자연적 선이 아직 그들에게 있었다는 사실입니다. But they perceived that they were in evil; from which remnant of perception, signified by their “eyes being opened,” and by their “hearing the voice of Jehovah” (verses 7–8), and from the fig-leaves of which they made themselves girdles (verse 7), and from their shame or hiding in the midst of the tree of the garden (verses 8–9), as well as from their acknowledgment and confession (verses 10–13), it is evident that natural goodness still remained in them.
