매일예배(4/16), '벗은 상태가 된 사람들의 영적 비참'(창3:7)

7이에 그들의 눈이 밝아져 자기들이 벗은 줄을 알고 무화과나무 잎을 엮어 치마로 삼았더라 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves girdles. (창3:7)

 

 

214. 그들을 ‘벌거벗겨진 사람들’이라고 부릅니다. 자신들의 오운만 남았기 때문입니다. They are called “naked” because left to their own;

 

자신들의 오운, 곧 자기 자신들만 남은 사람들은 지성과 지혜, 혹은 신앙의 그 어떤 것도 더 이상 남아 있지 않아 결과적으로, 진리와 선에 관하여 ‘벌거벗겨진 사람들’이며, 이런 이유로 악 안에 있기 때문입니다. for they who are left to their own, that is, to themselves, have no longer anything of intelligence and wisdom, or of faith, and consequently are “naked” as to truth and good, and are therefore in evil.

 

 

215. 인간의 오운은 악과 거짓 말고는 아무것도 아니라는 것이 저에게는 그동안 다음과 같은 사실로 분명해졌습니다. 그것은, 언제든지 영들 스스로가 하는 말은 그 말이 무슨 내용이든 모두 악하고 거짓이더라는 사실, 그들이 한 말을 내가 알게 될 때마다 나는 즉시 그것이 거짓임을, 심지어 그들이 자기들이 한 말은 전혀 의심할 필요가 없음을 자기들은 정말 완전 납득한 것이라고 말하더라도 말입니다. That man’s own is nothing but evil and falsity has been made evident to me from the fact that whatever spirits have at any time said from themselves has been so evil and false that whenever it was made known to me that they spoke from themselves I at once knew that it was false, even though while speaking they were themselves so thoroughly persuaded of the truth of what they said as to have no doubt about it.

 

자기 자신을 가지고 말하는 사람들의 경우도 똑같습니다. The case is the same with men who speak from themselves.

 

또 같은 식으로, 어떤 사람들이 영적, 천적 삶이나 신앙의 일들에 관하여 세상 이성으로 접근하기 시작할 때마다 저는 그들은 의심을 하고 있고, 심지어 부인까지 하고 있음을 지각할 수 있었습니다. 신앙에 관하여 세상 이성으로 접근한다는 건 의심하고 부인하는 것이기 때문입니다. And in the same way, whenever any persons have begun to reason concerning the things of spiritual and celestial life, or those of faith, I could perceive that they doubted, and even denied, for to reason concerning faith is to doubt and deny.

 

그리고 이 모든 것이 자아 또는 그들의 오운으로 말미암는 것이어서, 그들은 그저 거짓들 가운데로 가라앉으며, 결과적으로는 짙은 어둠, 곧 거짓들의 심연 속으로 가라앉습니다. 그들이 이 심연 가운데 있을 때는 아주 작은 것 하나로도 수천의 진리들을 압도할 수가 있는 것이, 마치 눈동자 표면에 내려앉은 먼지 한 조각만으로도 온 우주와 그 안에 담긴 모든 것에 대해 눈을 감게 하는 것과 같습니다. And as it is all from self or their own, they sink into mere falsities, consequently into an abyss of thick darkness, that is, of falsities, and when they are in this abyss the smallest objection prevails over a thousand truths, just as a minute particle of dust in contact with the pupil of the eye shuts out the universe and everything it contains.

 

그런 사람에 관해 주님은 이사야에서 Of such persons the Lord says in Isaiah:

 

스스로 지혜롭다 하며 스스로 명철하다 하는 자들은 화 있을진저 Woe unto those who are wise in their own eyes, and intelligent before their own faces. (사5:21)

 

10...네 지혜와 네 지식이 너를 유혹하였음이라 네 마음에 이르기를 나뿐이라 나 외에 다른 이가 없다 하였으므로 11재앙이 네게 임하리라 그러나 네가 그 근원을 알지 못할 것이며 손해가 네게 이르리라 그러나 이를 물리칠 능력이 없을 것이며 파멸이 홀연히 네게 임하리라 그러나 네가 알지 못할 것이니라 Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath turned thee away, and thou hast said in thine heart, I, and none else besides me; and evil shall come upon thee, thou shalt not know from whence it riseth, and mischief shall fall upon thee, which thou shalt not be able to expiate, and vastation shall come upon thee suddenly, of which thou art not aware. (사47:10-11)

 

예레미야에서는 In Jeremiah:

 

사람마다 어리석고 무식하도다 금장색마다 자기가 만든 신상으로 말미암아 수치를 당하나니 이는 그 부어 만든 우상은 거짓이요 그 속에 생기가 없음이라 Every man is made stupid by knowledge [scientia], every founder is confounded by the graven image, for his molten image is falsehood, neither is there breath in them. (렘51:17)

 

‘만든 신상’은 거짓이요, ‘부어 만든 신상’은 악, 곧 인간의 오운 속 악입니다. A “graven image” is the falsity, and a “molten image” the evil, of man’s own.
