토요예배(8/7, 창6:2, AC.569-571), '홍수를 자초한 사람들의 퀄러티(캐릭터)'

하나님의 아들들이 사람의 딸들의 아름다움을 보고 자기들이 좋아하는 모든 여자를 아내로 삼는지라 And the sons of God saw the daughters of man that they were good; and they took to themselves wives of all that they chose. (창6:2)

 

 

569. ‘하나님의 아들들’은 신앙의 교리, 가르침(teachings)을 상징합니다. By the “sons of God” are signified the doctrinal things of faith.

 

여기 나오는 ‘딸들’은 앞서 말씀드린 대로 갈망, 욕망(cravings)을 상징합니다. By “daughters,” here as before, yearnings.

 

‘하나님의 아들들이 사람의 딸들의 아름다움을 보고 자기들이 좋아하는 모든 여자를 아내로 삼는지라’는 신앙의 가르침과 사람의 욕망 둘을, 그 욕망이 무엇이든, 어떤 종류든 상관없이 이 둘을 단단히 묶었다는 뜻입니다. By the “sons of God seeing the daughters of man that they were good, and taking to themselves wives of all that they chose” is signified that the doctrinal things of faith conjoined themselves with yearnings, in fact with any yearnings whatever.

 

※ 여기 둘을 묶었다, 결합하게 했다, 또는 잠기게 했다 하는 표현의 뜻은, 신앙의 교리, 신학, 가르침을 자신의 갈망, 자신의 욕구, 욕망을 해소, 해결하는 방편으로 이용했다는 의미입니다. 신앙의 진리, 곧 주님의 말씀은 그 자체가 주님의 말씀이며, 주님이 하신 말씀이기 때문에 순전함으로 따라야 하는데, 이들은 그럴 마음은 전혀 없고, 대신 오로지 자신의 욕망을 위해서만 이용했기 때문입니다. 이것이 전형적인, 주님의 것에 사사로이 사람의 것을 섞는 신성모독입니다. 이것은 전형적인 자기 사랑의 모습이며, 결코 주님 사랑이 아닙니다.

 

 

570. ‘하나님의 아들들’이 신앙의 가르침을 상징한다는 것은, ‘아들들’의 상징을 보면 분명합니다. (바로 위, 그리고 앞 장 4절, ‘아들들’은 교회의 진리를 상징한다는 내용 참조, AC.489) That by the “sons of God” are signified doctrinal things of faith, is evident from the signification of “sons” (concerning which just above, and also in the preceding chapter, verse 4, where “sons” signify the truths of the church).

 

교회의 진리는 교리 형태의 가르침으로 되어 있으며, 본 장에 나오는 사람들은 이 진리를 참으로 여겼습니다. 태고인들을 통해 구전(口傳)으로 받았기 때문입니다. 이런 이유로, 이 진리를 가리켜 ‘하나님의 아들들’이라 부르는 것이며, 한편으로는, 갈망을 가리켜 ‘사람의 딸들’이라 부르기 때문에, 비교해서 그렇게 부른 것이기도 합니다. The truths of the church are doctrinal things, which regarded in themselves were truths because those here treated of had them by tradition from the most ancient people, and therefore they are called the “sons of God”; they are so called also relatively, because yearnings are called the “daughters of man.”

 

본 절에서는 이 교회 사람들의 퀄러티(캐릭터)를 설명하고 있는데요, 즉, 이들은 본래 거룩했던, 교회의 진리를 자기들의 갈망으로 잠기게 했고, 그렇게 더럽혔으며, 그런 식으로, 그들은 자기들이 강하게 붙들고 있는 원리들을 더욱 더 신념으로 확고하게 삼았습니다. The quality of the members of this church is here described, namely, that they immersed the truths of the church, which were holy, in their yearnings, and thereby defiled them; and in this way they confirmed the principles of which they were so strongly persuaded.

 

어떻게 이런 일이 일어났을까 하는 것은 누구라도 쉽게 생각해 볼 수 있는데요, 자신이나 다른 사람들에게 일어나는 것을 관찰하면 말입니다. 우리가 어떤 주제에 관해 자신을 확신시키고자 할 때, 우리는 그것이 진리임을 모든 그럴듯한 것들을 가지고, 심지어는 주님의 말씀으로부터도 가지고 와서 자신에게 증명해 보이지요. 우리는 우리가 채택한 원리들과 신념들에 착 달라붙어 있는 한, 우리는 모든 것을 그것들과 일치시키려 하고 조화시키려 합니다. How this occurred may be easily conceived by anyone, from observing what passes in himself and others: those who persuade themselves in regard to any subject, confirm themselves in such persuasion by everything which they imagine to be true, even by what they find contained in the Word of the Lord; for while they cling to principles which they have received, and have become persuaded of, they make everything favor and assent to them.

 

우리가 우리 자신에 빠져들면 들수록, 우리는 점점 더 완고하게 그 입장을 고수합니다. And the more anyone is under the influence of self-love, the more firmly he holds them.

 

이런 설명이 지금 논의 중인 인종(人種, race)에 딱 맞습니다. 이들에 관해서는, 나중에 주님의 신적 자비, 곧 주님의 허락하심으로, 우리가 그들의 가공할 신념들을 다루게 될 때 말씀드리겠습니다. (cf. AC.573, 580-586a, 607:3, 619-637, 659-662, 792-813) 참 말씀드리기 생소한 것은, 그들은 결코 자신들의 합리적 사고로 다른 사람들에게 영향을 미치려 하지 않았다는 것입니다. 만일 그들이 그랬다면 그들은 그들 주위 영들의 모든 합리적인 능력들을 죄다 죽여버렸을 것입니다. 그들은 오직 자신들의 욕망만으로 다른 사람들에게 영향을 미치려 했습니다. Such was this race, concerning whom of the Lord’s Divine mercy hereafter, when we come to treat of their direful persuasions, which strange to say are such that they are never allowed to flow in by reasonings, but only from yearnings, for otherwise they would kill everything rational in the spirits present.

 

그래서 ‘하나님의 아들들이 사람의 딸들의 아름다움을 보고 자기들이 좋아하는 모든 여자를 아내로 삼는지라’가 의미하는 것이 무엇인지가 분명해집니다. 그것은 그들이 신앙의 가르침들과 그들의 욕망 둘을 하나로, 실제로 어떤 종류의 무슨 욕망이든지, 이 둘을 하나로 만들었다는 것입니다. Hence it appears what is signified by the “sons of God seeing the daughters of man, that they were good, and taking to themselves wives of all that they chose,” namely, that they conjoined the doctrinal things of faith with their yearnings, in fact with any yearnings.

 

 

571. 사람이 정신 나간 욕망 가운데 신앙의 진리를 침수시키는 그런 캐릭터가 될 때, 그는 진리를 모독하며, 자신에게서 리메인스를 빼앗습니다. 비록 이들 리메인스가 사람 안에 머물지라도 그는 이 리메인스를 양심으로 데리고 가지 못하는데, 왜냐하면, 그렇게 하는 순간, 그는 이미 더럽혀진 사고(思考, thoughts)로 또 다시 리메인스를 훼손하기 때문입니다. 말씀에 대한 신성모독은 일종의 굳은살을 만들어 모든 남아 있는 선과 진리를 마치 댐처럼 차단, 흡수해버리고 맙니다. When a man is of such a character that he immerses the truths of faith in his insane yearnings, he then profanes the truths, and deprives himself of remains, which although they remain cannot be brought forth, for as soon as they are brought forth they are again profaned by things that are profane; for profanations of the Word produce as it were a callosity, which causes an obstruction, and absorbs the goods and truths of remains.

 

그러므로 주님의 말씀을 훼손하지 않도록 깨어 있어야 합니다. 거짓된 원리, 가정(assumptions)에 사로잡혀있는 사람한테는 진리가 들어있는 것처럼 보이지 않을지라도, 주님의 말씀에는 영원한 산 생명이 들어 있습니다. Therefore let man beware of the profanation of the Word of the Lord, which contains the eternal truths wherein is life, although one who is in false principles does not believe that they are truths.
