2-3절, 2여자가 뱀에게 말하되 동산 나무의 열매를 우리가 먹을 수 있으나 3동산 중앙에 있는 나무의 열매는 하나님의 말씀에 너희는 먹지도 말고 만지지도 말라 너희가 죽을까 하노라 하셨느니라 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the tree of the garden; But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

그러므로 홍수 이전에 있었던 태고인들의 이런 지니어스가 오늘날엔 발견되지도, 그리고 존재하지도 않는 이런 상황 속에서, 이 본문이 의미하는 참된 의미, 곧 속뜻을 제대로 설명한다는 건 결코 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 그러나 천국에서는 다릅니다. 천국에서는 온전한 이해가 가능한데요, 천적이라고 하는 천사들과 천사적 영들은 홍수 전에 거듭난 태고인들과 같은(same) 지니어스를 지닌 반면, 영적이라고 하는 천사들과 천사적 영들은 홍수 후 거듭난 사람들과 유사한(similar) 지니어스를 지녔기 때문입니다. 비록 두 경우 모두 무한히 다양하지만 말입니다. Seeing therefore that such a genius as that of the most ancient people anterior to the flood is not found and does not exist at the present day, it is no easy matter to explain intelligibly what the words of this passage in their genuine sense imply. They are, however, perfectly understood in heaven, for the angels and angelic spirits who are called celestial are of the same genius as the most ancient people who were regenerate before the flood; while the angels and angelic spirits who are termed spiritual are of a similar genius to the regenerate after the flood, although in both cases with indefinite variety.
