※ 이 모든 것이 사람의 같은 부위에 유입되고, 그 부위와 상응하는 것이다. 천국의 이러한 입류는 몸의 각 부위의 기능과 쓰임새 안으로 들어간다. 쓰임새는 영계로부터 오기 때문에 자연계에 있는 사물을 통해 형체를 갖추고, 그리하여 스스로를 결과 안에 나타내는 것이다.

천국의 모든 것과 사람의 모든 것 간에는 어떤 상응이 존재한다

There Is a Correspondence of All Things of Heaven with All Things of Man

천국의 두 나라와 심장과 폐와의 상응은 천국과 사람 간의 일반적인 상응이다. 그보다 덜 일반적인 상응이 몸의 사지와 기관과 내장에 이루어진다. 그 특성은 다음과 같다. 천국, 즉 ‘가장 큰 사람’의 머리 부분에 있는 사람들은 모든 덕목(every good)에서 남보다 뛰어나다. 즉 그들은 사랑, 평화, 순수, 지혜, 지성, 그리고 그에 따른 기쁨과 행복 속에 있다. 이런 것이 사람의 머리와 머리에 속하는 것들로 유입되고, 그에 상응한다. 천국, 즉 ‘가장 큰 사람’의 가슴 부위에 있는 사람들은 이웃 사랑과 신앙의 선에 거하고, 위와 같은 식으로 사람의 가슴에 유입되며, 그에 상응한다. 한편 천국, 즉 ‘가장 큰 사람’의 허리와 생식 기관(the organs devoted to generation)을 이루는 사람들은 결혼애(marriage love) 안에 산다. 발 부위에 있는 사람들은 천국의 가장 낮은 선인 영적-자연적 선 안에 있다. 팔과 손 부위에 있는 이들은 선에서 비롯된 진리의 능력을, 눈 부위의 사람들은 사고력을, 귀 부위 사람들은 주의력과 복종을, 코 부위 사람들은 지각을, 입과 혀 부위 사람들은 사고와 지각을 이용한 대화 능력을 담당한다. 신장 부위 사람들은 조사하고, 분별하고, 교정하는 진리 안에 거한다. 간장, 췌장, 비장 부위 사람들은 선과 진리의 다양한 정화 능력 안에 있다. 그 밖에도 마찬가지다. 이 모든 것이 사람의 같은 부위에 유입되고, 그 부위와 상응하는 것이다. 천국의 이러한 입류는 몸의 각 부위의 기능과 쓰임새 안으로 들어간다. 쓰임새는 영계로부터 오기 때문에 자연계에 있는 사물을 통해 형체를 갖추고, 그리하여 스스로를 결과 안에 나타내는 것이다. 이런 원리로 인해 상응이 존재한다. The correspondence of the two kingdoms of heaven with the heart and lungs is the general correspondence of heaven with man. There is a less general correspondence with each one of his members, organs, and viscera; and what this is shall also be explained. In the greatest man, which is heaven, those that are in the head excel all others in every good, being in love, peace, innocence, wisdom, intelligence, and consequent joy and happiness. These flow into the head of man and the things belonging to the head and corresponding thereto. In the greatest man, or heaven, those that are in the breast are in the good of charity and of faith, and these flow into the breast of man and correspond to it. In the greatest man, or heaven, those that are in the loins and the organs devoted to generation are in marriage love. Those in the feet are in the lowest good of heaven, which is called spiritual-natural good. Those in the arms and hands are in the power of truth from good. Those that are in the eyes are in understanding; those in the ears are in attention and obedience; those in the nostrils are in perception; those in the mouth and tongue are in the ability to converse from understanding and perception; those in the kidneys are in truths searching, separating, and correcting; those in the liver, pancreas, and spleen are in various purifications of good and truth; and so with the rest. All these flow into the like things of man and correspond to them. This inflow of heaven is into the functions and uses of the bodily members; and the uses, since they are from the spiritual world, take on a form by means of such things as are in the natural world, and thus present themselves in effect. From this is the correspondence.
