주일예배(11/7, AC.1558-1561, 창13:4), '그가 처음으로 제단을 쌓은 곳이라'

 창13

 

1558. 4절, 그가 처음으로 제단을 쌓은 곳이라 그가 거기서 여호와의 이름을 불렀더라 Verse 4. Unto the place of the altar which he had made there in the beginning; and there Abram called on the name of Jehovah.

 

‘제단이 있는 곳으로’, 예배(worship)에 관한 거룩한 것들을, ‘그가 처음으로 쌓은’, 주님의 어린 시절, 주님이 가지고 계셨던 것을, ‘아브람이 거기서 여호와의 이름을 불렀더라’, 그 상태에서 드린 내적 예배를 각각 의미합니다. “Unto the place of the altar” signifies the holy things of worship; “which he had made in the beginning” signifies which he had when a child; “and there Abram called on the name of Jehovah” signifies the internal worship in that state.

 

 

1559. 제단이 있는 곳으로 Unto the place of the altar.

 

이것이 ‘예배에 관한 거룩한 것들’에 관한 의미임은 ‘제단’의 의미가 예배에 관한 주된 표상(principal representative)인 점을, 제단하면 예배임을 생각할 때 분명합니다. (AC.921 참조) That this signifies the holy things of worship is evident from the signification of an “altar” as being the principal representative of worship (concerning which, see n. 921).

 

 

1560. 그가 처음으로 쌓은 Which he had made in the beginning.

 

이것이 ‘주님이 아이였을 때 가지셨던’이라는 의미임은 앞장 8절의 내용을 보시면 됩니다. That this signifies which he had when a child, is evident from what was said in the preceding chapter at verse 8.

 

거기서 벧엘 동쪽 산으로 옮겨 장막을 치니 서쪽은 벧엘이요 동쪽은 아이라 그가 그 곳에서 여호와께 제단을 쌓고 여호와의 이름을 부르더니 (창12:8)

 

여기서는 ‘처음으로’(in the beginning)라 하고, 앞절에서는 ‘전에’(at the first)라 하는 이유는, 그때가 주님이 지식으로 가득 채워지시기 전이었기 때문입니다. It is here said, “in the beginning,” and in the preceding verse, “at the first,” because that was before the Lord had been imbued with knowledges.

 

사람이 가르침을 받기 이전 모든 상태를 ‘전’(the first)[라. 이니티움 initium]이라 하고, 그가 가르침을 받기 시작할 때를 ‘처음’(the beginning)[라. 프링치피움 principium]이라 합니다. All the state before a man is instructed, is “the first” [initium]; and when he begins to be instructed, it is “the beginning” [principium].

 

 

1561. 아브람이 거기서 여호와의 이름을 불렀더라 And there Abram called on the name of Jehovah.

 

이것이 ‘그 상태에서 드린 내적 예배’라는 의미임은 ‘여호와의 이름을 부르다’의 의미를 생각하면 분명합니다. (AC.440, 1455 참조) That this signifies the internal worship in that state is evident from the signification of “calling on the name of Jehovah” (explained above, n. 440, 1455).

 

여기서도 역시, 그 유사한 상태들 때문에, ‘제단’이 언급되고 있으며, 이르기를, 그가 ‘여호와의 이름을 불렀다’ 하고 있습니다. 앞장 8절의 경우처럼 말이지요. 다만 그 차이가 있다면, 앞장 8절이 뿌연 상태였다면 지금 여기는 또렷한 상태라는 차이가 있습니다. Here too, because of the similarity of the states, mention is made of an “altar,” and it is said that he “called on the name of Jehovah,” as was the case in the preceding chapter, verse 8; but there is this difference, that as compared with the former, the state here described is a lucid one.

 

위에 묘사된 상태에서 지식이 이식되어 뿌리를 내리면, 그 지식은 상태를 명료하게 합니다. 그리고, 진리와 선이 지식을 통해 먼젓번 천적 상태와 조인이 될 때, 그때 그 활동이 지금 우리 앞에 말로 묘사되고 있습니다. 예배 자체가 어떤 활동으로서, 그 안에 들어 있는 천적인 것으로부터 나오는 것이기 때문입니다. When knowledges are implanted in the state described above, they make it lucid; and when truth and good are conjoined with the former celestial state by means of knowledges, its activity is then described as in the words now before us; for worship itself is nothing but a certain activity coming forth from the celestial which is within.

 

천적인 것 그 자체는 활동 없이는 존재 자체가 불가능합니다. The celestial itself cannot possibly exist without activity.

 

예배는 그 첫 번째 활동입니다. 천적인 것은 그 자신을 이런 식으로 드러내기 때문인데, 그 이유는, 천적인 것은 이런 것, 곧 주님을 예배하는 데서 기쁨을 지각하기 때문입니다. Worship is its first activity; for it puts itself forth in this way, because it perceives joy in it.

 

모든 사랑의 선과 체어리티의 선은 그 자체가 본질적, 필수적 활동입니다. All the good of love and of charity is essential activity itself.

 

 

※ 이상으로, 오늘 본문 13장 4절과 그 속뜻은 다음과 같습니다.

지식을 통해 이젠 명료한 상태가 되신 주님은 어린 시절 주님이 가지고 계셨던 그 천적인 것들과 결합, 참된 예배의 기쁨을 맛보셨다

 

※ 창세기 12장부터는 표상교회의 시작입니다. 표상(表象, representative)이란 ‘대신 표현’하는 것입니다. 창세기 12장부터 이후 주님의 초림 때까지의 모든 말씀(The Word)은 표상으로 읽어야 합니다. 즉, 주님과 천국, 그리고 교회를 표현하는 것입니다.

 

아브람은 주님의 어린 시절을 표상합니다. 하란을 출발, 가나안을 거쳐 애굽에 내려갔다가 우여곡절(?) 끝에 다시 가나안으로 올라오는 이 일련의 여정은, 주님의 어린 시절, 주님의 지식과 이성, 지성이 어떻게 발전하셨는지, 어떻게 세상 여느 어린이들처럼 시작하셨는지, 그러나 또 다른 점은 무엇이었는지, 그리고 어떻게 그렇게 빠른 성취를 이루실 수 있었는지 등을 보여주는 이야기입니다.
