‘네가 땅에서 저주를 받으리니’는 그런 종교적 입장, 곧 스키즘(schism)을 통해 그가 외면을 자초하게 되었음을, 즉 사랑에서 신앙을 분리하는 입장을 고수함으로써 스스로 주님으로부터 멀어지게 되었음을, ‘그 입을 벌려’는 그 이단(heresy)이 그들을 가르쳤음을, ‘네 손에서부터 네 아우의 피를 받았은즉’은 그것이 체어리티를 폭행, 사라지게 하였음을 말합니다. “Cursed art thou from the ground” signifies that through the schism he had become averted; “which hath opened its mouth” signifies that the heresy taught them; to “receive thy brother’s bloods from thy hand” signifies that it did violence to charity, and extinguished it.

‘핏소리’(10절)는 사라진 체어리티를, ‘땅에서 저주를’(11절)은 왜곡된 교리를, ‘땅에서 피하며 유리하는 자’(12절)는 거기서 나오는 악과 거짓을 각각 이르고 있습니다. 그리고 그들은 자원하여 주님을 외면했기 때문에, 영원한 사망이라는 위험에 빠졌습니다. (13-14절) 그러나 체어리티가 이식되는 것은 신앙을 통해서였기 때문에, 신앙은 불가침의 것이 되었습니다. ‘가인에게 표를 주사’는 이것을 상징하는 것입니다. (15절) Charity extinguished is called the “voice of bloods.” (verse 10); perverted doctrine, the “curse from the ground.” (verse 11); the falsity and evil originating thence, the “fugitive and wanderer in the earth.” (verse 12) And as they had averted themselves from the Lord, they were in danger of eternal death. (verses 13–14) But as it was through faith that charity would afterwards be implanted, faith was made inviolable, and this is signified by the “mark set upon Cain.” (verse 15)

※ 천적인 교회 혹은 천적 인간은 신앙도 사랑으로, 즉 교리가 달라도 사랑부터 하는 반면, 영적인 교회 혹은 영적 인간은 사랑도 신앙으로, 즉 일단 신앙으로 사랑을 학습한 후 하기 때문입니다. 이 일이 나중에 ‘셋’과 ‘보아스’에 의해 일어납니다. ‘나중에 체어리티가 이식되는 것은 신앙을 통해서’라는 말은 이런 뜻입니다.

그리고 ‘에덴 동쪽을 향하여 거주하는 가인’은 그것의 이전 지위에서 쫓겨나는 것을 가리킵니다. (16절) And its removal from its former position is denoted by “Cain dwelling toward the east of Eden.” (verse 16)
