※ ‘사람’(a man [vir])의 속뜻, 신앙(faith)

23절, 라멕이 아내들에게 이르되 아다와 씰라여 내 목소리를 들으라 라멕의 아내들이여 내 말을 들으라 나의 상처로 말미암아 내가 사람을 죽였고 나의 상함으로 말미암아 소년을 죽였도다 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech, and with your ears perceive my speech, for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a little one to my hurt.

‘사람’이 신앙을 의미한다는 것은 본 장 1절, 하와가 가인을 낳고 한 말, ‘내가 여호와로 말미암아 득남하였다’(I have gotten a man, Jehovah, 내가 여호와라는 사람을 얻었다)를 보면 알 수 있는데, 여기서 사람은 ‘여호와라는 사람’(a man, Jehovah)이라는 신앙의 교리를 의미합니다 (cf. 340). 이런 사실은 또 훨씬 앞서 다룬 (cf. 158, 265), 사람(남자) 또는 남성에 관한 내용을 봐도 분명합니다. 거기서 남자는 이해를 의미하는데, 이해는 신앙에 속한 것입니다. 그는 체어리티 또한 소멸시켰는데요, 여기 뒤이어 나오는 ‘어린이’, 혹은 ‘소년’이라고 하는 게 바로 체어리티입니다. 신앙을 부인하고 죽이는 자는 동시에 체어리티 또한 그렇게 하는데, 그것은 체어리티가 신앙에서 나오기 때문입니다. That by a “man” [vir] is signified faith is evident from the first verse of this chapter, in that Eve said, when she bare Cain, “I have gotten a man, Jehovah”; by whom was meant the doctrine of faith, called “a man, Jehovah.” It is evident also from what was shown above concerning a man or male, that he signifies understanding, which is of faith. That he had also extinguished charity, here called a “little one,” or a “little child,” follows, for he who denies and murders faith, at the same time also denies and murders the charity that is born from faith.
