15절, 내가 너로 여자와 원수가 되게 하고 네 후손도 여자의 후손과 원수가 되게 하리니 여자의 후손은 네 머리를 상하게 할 것이요 너는 그의 발꿈치를 상하게 할 것이니라 하시고 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall trample upon thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

‘상하게 할 것이요’(trampling on), 혹은 ‘상하게 할 것이니라’(bruising)는 디프레션(depression, 암담함)을 의미하며, 그 결과, ‘배로 다니며 흙을 먹을지니라’가 되게 하려는 것이 본 절과 선행절들을 보면 분명합니다. 이사야에서도 이와 같은데요, That by “trampling on” or “bruising” is meant depression, so as to compel it to “go on the belly and eat the dust,” is now evident from this and the preceding verses. So likewise in Isaiah:

 

4너희는 여호와를 영원히 신뢰하라 주 여호와는 영원한 반석이심이로다 5높은 데에 거주하는 자를 낮추시며 솟은 성을 헐어 땅에 엎으시되 진토에 미치게 하셨도다 6발이 그것을 밟으리니 곧 빈궁한 자의 발과 곤핍한 자의 걸음이리로다 (사26:4-6) Jehovah hath cast down them that dwell on high; the exalted city he will humble it; he will humble it even to the earth; he will prostrate it even to the dust; the foot shall tread it down. (Isa. 26:4–6)

 

2보라 주께 있는 강하고 힘 있는 자가 쏟아지는 우박같이, 파괴하는 광풍같이, 큰물이 넘침같이 손으로 그 면류관을 땅에 던지리니 3에브라임의 술취한 자들의 교만한 면류관이 발에 밟힐 것이라 (사28:2-3) He shall cast down to the earth with the hand; they shall be trampled on by feet—a crown of pride. (Isa. 28:2–3)
