15절, 내가 너로 여자와 원수가 되게 하고 네 후손도 여자의 후손과 원수가 되게 하리니 여자의 후손은 네 머리를 상하게 할 것이요 너는 그의 발꿈치를 상하게 할 것이니라 하시고 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall trample upon thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

‘여자의 후손’(the seed of the woman)이 주님 신앙을 의미한다는 건, ‘여자’가 교회를 의미하며, 그 ‘후손’(seed)은 신앙 말고는 없다는 점에서 분명한데요, 교회를 교회라 하는 건 주님 신앙으로 말미암기 때문입니다. 말라기에 보면, 신앙을 ‘경건한 자손’(the seed of God)이라 하고 있습니다. That the “seed of the woman” signifies faith in the Lord is evident from the signification of “woman” as being the church, whose “seed” is nothing but faith, for it is from faith in the Lord that the church is called the church. In Malachi, faith is called the “seed of God”:

 

14너희는 이르기를 어찌 됨이니이까 하는도다 이는 너와 네가 어려서 맞이한 아내 사이에 여호와께서 증인이 되시기 때문이라 그는 네 짝이요 너와 서약한 아내로되 네가 그에게 거짓을 행하였도다 15그에게는 영이 충만하였으나 오직 하나를 만들지 아니하셨느냐 어찌하여 하나만 만드셨느냐 이는 경건한 자손을 얻고자 하심이라 그러므로 네 심령을 삼가 지켜 어려서 맞이한 아내에게 거짓을 행하지 말지니라 (말2:14-15) Jehovah hath witnessed between thee and the wife of thy youth; and not one hath done so who had a residue of the spirit; and wherefore one, seeking the seed of God? But observe ye in your spirit, lest he deal treacherously against the wife of thy youth. (Mal. 2:14–15)

 

이 구절에서, ‘어려서 맞이한 아내’(the wife of youth)는 고대 및 태고 교회들이며, 그 ‘후손’(seed, 혹은 신앙)에 대하여 선지자는 말하고 있습니다. 이사야 역시, 교회와 관련하여 In this passage the “wife of youth” is the ancient and most ancient churches, of whose “seed” (or faith) the prophet speaks. In Isaiah also, in reference to the church:

 

나는 목마른 자에게 물을 주며 마른 땅에 시내가 흐르게 하며 나의 영을 네 자손에게, 나의 복을 네 후손에게 부어 주리니 (사44:3) I will pour waters upon the thirsty, and floods upon the dry [land]; I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring. (Isa. 44:3)

 

계시록에서는 In Revelation:

 

용이 여자에게 분노하여 돌아가서 그 여자의 남은 자손 곧 하나님의 계명을 지키며 예수의 증거를 가진 자들과 더불어 싸우려고 바다 모래 위에 서 있더라 (계12:17) The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, who were keeping the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Rev. 12:17)

 

그리고 시편에서는 And in David:

 

3주께서 이르시되 나는 내가 택한 자와 언약을 맺으며 내 종 다윗에게 맹세하기를 4내가 네 자손을 영원히 견고히 하며 네 왕위를 대대에 세우리라 하셨나이다, 29또 그의 후손을 영구하게 하여 그의 왕위를 하늘의 날과 같게 하리로다, 36그의 후손이 장구하고 그의 왕위는 해 같이 내 앞에 항상 있으며 (시89:3-4, 29, 36) I have made a covenant with mine elect, I have sworn unto David my servant, even to eternity will I establish thy seed, and his seed will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of the heavens; his seed shall endure to eternity, and his throne as the sun before me, (Ps. 89:3–4, 29, 36)

 

여기서 ‘다윗’은 주님을, ‘왕위’는 주님의 나라를, ‘해’는 사랑을, ‘자손’은 신앙을 의미합니다. where by “David” is meant the Lord; by “throne,” his kingdom; by the “sun,” love; and by “seed,” faith.
