그가 ‘죽었다’는 것은 그런 퍼셉션, 즉 아담교회 때 있었던 퍼셉션이 더이상은 존재하지 않았다라는 의미임은 ‘죽다’라는 단어의 의미, 즉 어떤 것이 더이상 예전처럼 있기를 그만두다라는 의미임을 생각할 때 분명합니다. That he “died” signifies that there was no longer such perception is evident from the signification of the word “die,” which is, that a thing ceases to be such as it has been.

※ 퍼셉션은 헤아릴 수 없이 다양합니다. 각 천국마다 다르고, 해당 천국의 무수한 공동체들마다, 그리고 해당 공동체 각 개인마다도 다릅니다. 이것은 한 분 주님한테서 이렇게 다양한 퍼셉션이 나오는 게 아니라 각 천국마다, 각 공동체마다, 그리고 각 천사마다 그 역량, 곧 주님의 신성인 선과 진리를 담는 역량 차이에 따른 것입니다.

요한계시록입니다. Thus in John:

1사데 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 하나님의 일곱 영과 일곱 별을 가지신 이가 이르시되 내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 살았다 하는 이름은 가졌으나 죽은 자로다 2너는 일깨어 그 남은 바 죽게 된 것을 굳건하게 하라 내 하나님 앞에 네 행위의 온전한 것을 찾지 못하였노니 (계3:1-2) Unto the angel of the church in Sardis write, These things saith he that hath the seven spirits, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou art said to live, but art dead; be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die; for I have not found thy works perfect before God. (Rev. 3:1–2)

예레미야입니다. In Jeremiah:

내가 너와 너를 낳은 어머니를 너희가 나지 아니한 다른 지방으로 쫓아내리니 너희가 거기에서 죽으리라 (렘22:26) I will cast out thy mother that bare thee, into another country where ye were not begotten, and there shall ye die, (Jer. 22:26)

여기 ‘어머니’는 교회를 의미합니다. where “mother” signifies the church.

지금까지 말씀드린(AC.407, 468) 것처럼 이 교회의 경우, 처음 상태, 정말 깨끗했던 온전함이 시간이 흐를수록 줄어들고 퇴색되며, 잃게 되었는데, 그 주된 이유는 악의 세습 및 증가였는데, 역대 모든 부모마다 자기가 타고난 악에다 새로운 악을 더했기 때문입니다. 부모의 모든 실제적 악은 일종의 본성을 옷 입습니다. 그리고는 종종 재발 시, 그들의 본성이 되고, 그렇게 그들의 유전 악에 더해집니다. 이런 식으로, 자녀들에게 전이되고, 그렇게 후손에게 전해집니다. 이런 식으로, 유전 악은 후손들에 이르러 엄청나게 증가합니다. 이것이 그렇다는 것은 아이들의 악한 기질이 정확히 그들의 조상의 것과 똑같은 것을 보면 알 수 있습니다. 아담으로부터 우리에게 이식되어 유전되어 온 악 외에 다른 유전 악은 없다 주장하는 사람들의 견해는 완전 거짓입니다. For as we have said, the case with the church is that it decreases and degenerates, and loses its pristine integrity, chiefly by reason of the increase of hereditary evil, for every succeeding parent adds new evil to that which he has inherited. All the actual evil in the parents puts on a kind of nature, and when it often recurs, becomes natural to them, and is added to their hereditary evil, and is transmitted into their children, and so to posterity. In this way the hereditary evil is immensely increased in the descendants. That this is so is evident from the fact that the evil dispositions of children are exactly like those of their progenitors. Quite false is the opinion of those who think that there is no hereditary evil except that which they allege to have been implanted in us from Adam (see n. 313). The truth is that everyone makes hereditary evil by his own actual sins, and adds it to the evils that he has inherited, and in this way it accumulates, and remains in all the descendants, nor is it abated except in those who are being regenerated by the Lord. In every church this is the principal cause of degeneration, and it was so in the most ancient church.

여기서 말씀드리고 있는 내용이 첫 사람(the first man)에 관한 것이라는 사실로부터 분명한 것은, 오늘날 존재하는 모든 유전 악은 그(him)로 말미암은 게 아니라는 것입니다. 가정이 잘못된 것입니다. 그 이유는, 여기 ‘사람’이라는 이름으로 다루고 있는 것은 태고(太古, the most ancient) 교회이기 때문입니다. 이 교회를 ‘아담’이라 하면서 상징하는 것은, 사람은 땅으로 말미암았다는 것, 즉 ‘사람이 아닌’(nonman) 상태에서 시작, 주님으로 말미암아 거듭나 ‘사람’이 되었다는 것입니다. From what is here said of the first man, it is evident that all the hereditary evil existing at the present day did not come from him, as is falsely supposed. For it is the most ancient church that is here treated of under the name of “man”; and when it is called “Adam,” it signifies that man was from the ground, or that from being nonman he became man by regeneration from the Lord.

※ 겉모습이 사람이라고 사람이 되는 게 아닙니다. 그 안에 주님의 신성이 깃들어야 비로소 ‘사람’이 되는 것입니다.

이것이 그 이름의 기원과 상징입니다. 유전 악에 대해서는 그 경우는 이런데요, 실제 죄를 짓는 사람마다 자신에게 그로 인한 어떤 본성(a nature)을 초래하며, 그로 인한 악이 그의 어린 자녀들에게 심겨 유전 악이 되는 것입니다. This is the origin and signification of the name. But as to hereditary evil, the case is this. Everyone who commits actual sin thereby induces on himself a nature, and the evil from it is implanted in his children, and becomes hereditary.

※ 내가 범하는 낱낱의 죄로 인해 실제로 나의 본성이 손상되며, 영향을 받는다는 말이며, 어렸을 때부터 곁에서 이를 지켜보며 자란 자녀들 또한 결정적인 영향을 받는다는 말입니다.

※ 주님과 동거한 열두 제자들, 프란치스코와 함께한 열두 형제들, 이현필 선생과 함께한 동광원 사람들, 공용복 선생과 함께한 핵심진리의 사람들 등 ‘동거’, ‘공동생활’의 비밀과 유익이 그래서 중요합니다. 중심인물이 주님께 사로잡힌 바만 확실하다면 말입니다.

유전악은 그렇게 모든 부모로부터, 아버지, 할아버지, 증조 및 가계를 따라 그들의 선조로부터 이어져 내려오며, 그렇게 각각의 이어지는 후손들 안에서 배가하고 늘어납니다. 유전악은 각 사람 안에 머무르며, 각자 실제 짓는 죄로 인해 증가하고, 주님으로 말미암아 거듭나고 있는 사람들을 제외하고는 절대 사람에게 해가 되지 않도록 저절로 소멸하는 일은 결코 일어나지 않습니다. 주의 깊게 관찰하시는 모든 분들은 다음과 같은 사실을 통해 이 말이 맞다는 것을 분명히 확인하실 수 있습니다. 부모의 악한 경향은 자녀들 안에 눈에 보이도록 남아 한 가계, 심지어 그 종족 전체가 그로 인해 다른 모든 가계나 종족들하고 구별될 수도 있을 정도라는 걸 말입니다. It thus descends from every parent, from the father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and their ancestors in succession, and is thus multiplied and augmented in each descending posterity, remaining with each person, and being increased in each by his actual sins, and never being dissipated so as to become harmless except in those who are being regenerated by the Lord. Every attentive observer may see evidence of this truth in the fact that the evil inclinations of parents remain visibly in their children, so that one family, and even an entire race, may be thereby distinguished from every other.
