2, 3절, 하나님이 그가 하시던 일을 일곱째 날에 마치시니 그가 하시던 모든 일을 그치고 일곱째 날에 안식하시니라 하나님이 그 일곱째 날을 복되게 하사 거룩하게 하셨으니 이는 하나님이 그 창조하시며 만드시던 모든 일을 마치시고 그날에 안식하셨음이니라 And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God in making created.

영적 인간이 천적 인간이 될 때, 그를 가리켜 ‘하나님의 일’(the work of God)이라 합니다. 주님 홀로 그를 위해 지금까지 싸워오셨고(has fought for), 지금까지 그를 창조해 오셨으며, 지으시고, 만들어 오셨기(has created, formed, and made) 때문입니다. 그래서 여기서 ‘하나님이 그가 하시던 일을 일곱째 날에 마치시니’(God finished his work on the seventh day) 하는 것이며, 한 번 더 ‘하나님이 그 모든 일을 마치시고 안식하셨음이니라’(he rested from all his work) 하는 것입니다. 인간은 선지자들에 의해 반복적으로 ‘여호와의 손과 손가락으로 한 일’(the work of the hands and of the fingers of Jehovah)이라 일컬어지고 있습니다. 이사야에, 거듭난 사람을 가리켜 말씀하시기를 When the spiritual man becomes celestial, he is called the “work of God,” because the Lord alone has fought for him, and has created, formed, and made him; and therefore it is here said, “God finished his work on the seventh day”; and twice, that “he rested from all his work.” By the prophets man is repeatedly called the “work of the hands and of the fingers of Jehovah”; as in Isaiah, speaking of the regenerate man:

 

11이스라엘의 거룩하신 이 곧 이스라엘을 지으신 여호와께서 이같이 이르시되 너희가 장래 일을 내게 물으며 또 내 아들들과 내 손으로 한 일에 관하여 내게 명령하려느냐 12내가 땅을 만들고 그 위에 사람을 창조하였으며 내가 내 손으로 하늘을 펴고 하늘의 모든 군대에게 명령하였노라, 18대저 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 하늘을 창조하신 이 그는 하나님이시니 그가 땅을 지으시고 그것을 만드셨으며 그것을 견고하게 하시되 혼돈하게 창조하지 아니하시고 사람이 거주하게 그것을 지으셨으니 나는 여호와라 나 외에 다른 이가 없느니라, 21너희는 알리며 진술하고 또 함께 의논하여 보라 이 일을 옛부터 듣게 한 자가 누구냐 이전부터 그것을 알게 한 자가 누구냐 나 여호와가 아니냐 나 외에 다른 신이 없나니 나는 공의를 행하며 구원을 베푸는 하나님이라 나 외에 다른 이가 없느니라 (사45:11-12, 18, 21) Thus hath said Jehovah the holy one of Israel, and his former, Seek ye signs of me, signs concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. I have made the earth, and created man upon it; I, even my hands have stretched out the heavens, and all their army have I commanded. For thus hath said Jehovah that createth the heavens, God himself that formeth the earth and maketh it; he establisheth it, he created it not a void, he formed it to be inhabited; I am Jehovah and there is no God else besides me. (Isa. 45:11–12, 18, 21)

 

이 말씀을 보면 분명히 새 창조, 혹은 거듭남은 오직 주님의 일임을 알 수 있습니다. ‘창조하다’(to create), ‘짓다’(to form), ‘만들다’(to make)라는 표현들을 다음 두 가지 경우와, 또 창세기 본 장과 앞 장에서 아주 특징적으로 사용하고 있는데요, 그것은 다음과 같습니다. 위 구절 중, ‘하늘을 창조하신 이, 그가 땅을 지으시고 그것을 만드셨으며’(creating the heavens, forming the earth, and making it) 하는 부분, 그리고 같은 이사야 다른 구절, 예를 들면, Hence it is evident that the new creation, or regeneration, is the work of the Lord alone. The expressions to “create,” to “form,” and to “make,” are employed quite distinctively, both in the above passage—“creating the heavens, forming the earth, and making it”—and in other places in the same prophet, as:

 

내 이름으로 불려지는 모든 자 곧 내가 내 영광을 위하여 창조한 자를 오게 하라 그를 내가 지었고 그를 내가 만들었느니라 (사43:7) Everyone that is called by my name, I have created him for my glory, I have formed him, yea, I have made him, (Isa. 43:7)

 

또 창세기 1장과 지금 2장, ‘하나님이 그 창조하시며 만드시던 모든 일을 마치시고 그날에 안식하셨음이니라’(he rested from all his work which God in making created) 하는 부분들입니다. 속뜻을 생각할 때, 이런 용법을 만나면 늘 그 표현들을 눈여겨보게 되는데요, 다음 케이스들이 바로 그런 경우들입니다. 주님을 가리켜 ‘창조하시는 분’(creator), ‘빚으시는 분’(former), ‘만드시는 분’(maker)으로 표현하는 경우들이지요. and also in both the preceding and this chapter of Genesis; as in the passage before us: “he rested from all his work which God in making created.” In the internal sense this usage always conveys a distinct idea; and the case is the same where the Lord is called “creator,” “former,” or “maker.”
