지면보다 높이 있는 것, 즉 해, 달, 별, 그리고 대기층의 구름, 안개, 비, 천둥 번개 등도 역시 상응물이다. 해의 출몰에 따른 결과들, 즉 빛과 그림자, 더위와 추위, 또 그 결과인 춘하추동 사계절과 하루의 때인 아침, 낮, 저녁, 밤도 상응물이다. Also the things above the earth, as the sun, moon, and stars, and those in the atmosphere, as clouds, mists, rain, lightning and thunder, are likewise correspondences. Things resulting from the presence and absence of the sun, as light and shade, heat and cold, are also correspondences, as well as those that follow in succession therefrom, as the seasons of the year, spring, summer, autumn, and winter; and the times of day, morning, noon, evening, and night.
