※ ‘여호와의 이름을 부르기’는 이미 태고교회 때부터, 그리고 아벨의 때에도

26절, 셋도 아들을 낳고 그의 이름을 에노스라 하였으며 그때에 사람들이 비로소 여호와의 이름을 불렀더라 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enosh: then began they to call upon the name of Jehovah.

여호와의 이름을 부르는 것이 이때 시작된 것이 아니라는 사실은 다음 두 가지 사실을 보면 아주 분명한데요, 첫 번째는, 태고교회에 관하여 위에서 지금까지 말씀드려온 내용입니다. 태고교회는 다른 어느 교회보다도 가장 주님을 경배하고 예배한 교회로서 이미 이때 여호와의 이름을 부르며 주님을 예배했습니다. 두 번째는, 양 떼의 첫 새끼를 희생제물로 드린 아벨의 경우입니다. 이런 이유로 이 본문, ‘여호와의 이름을 부르기’는 새 교회의 예배를 상징하는 것 말고는 다른 의미는 없습니다. 아다와 씰라 이전의 교회들은 ‘가인’과 ‘라멕’이라는 사람들, 교회들에 의해 소멸되었기 때문입니다. That the invocation of the name of Jehovah did not commence at this time is sufficiently evident from what has already been said above in regard to the most ancient church, which more than any other adored and worshiped the Lord; and also from the fact that Abel brought an offering of the firstlings of the flock; so that in this passage by “calling upon the name of Jehovah” nothing else is signified than the worship of the new church, after the former church had been extinguished by those who are called “Cain” and “Lamech.”

That by the words just quoted is signified the worship of that church from charity is evident from the fact that to “call upon the name of Jehovah” is a customary and general form of speech for all worship of the Lord; and that this worship was from charity is evident from the fact that “Jehovah” is here mentioned, whereas in the preceding verse he was called “God,” as well as from the fact that the Lord cannot be worshiped except from charity, since true worship cannot proceed from faith that is not of charity, because it is merely of the lips, and not of the heart. That to “call on the name of Jehovah” is a customary form of speech for all worship of the Lord, appears from the Word; thus it is said of Abraham, that “he built an altar to Jehovah, and called on the name of Jehovah” (Gen. 12:8; 13:4) and again, that he “planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of Jehovah, the God of eternity” (Gen. 21:33). That this expression includes all worship, is plain from Isaiah:

22그러나 야곱아 너는 나를 부르지 아니하였고 이스라엘아 너는 나를 괴롭게 여겼으며 23네 번제의 양을 내게로 가져오지 아니하였고 네 제물로 나를 공경하지 아니하였느니라 나는 제물로 말미암아 너를 수고롭게 하지 아니하였고 유향으로 말미암아 너를 괴롭게 하지 아니하였거늘 (사43:22-23) Jehovah the holy one of Israel hath said, thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob, but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. Thou hast not brought to me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings, neither hast thou honored me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense, (Isa. 43:22–23)

창12:8

※ ‘에노스’의 속뜻, 영적 인간(靈人, spiritual man)의 성향을 띤 평범한 인간, 체어리티를 신앙의 원리로 삼았던 어떤 교회

‘셋’이 신앙, 곧 이 신앙을 통해서 체어리티가 오는 그런 신앙임은 선행구절에서 보여드렸습니다. 그의 ‘아들, 곧 그 이름이 에노스였던’ 아들, 체어리티를 신앙의 원리로 삼았던 어떤 교회를 가리켜 ‘에노스’라 한다는 것은 앞서 지금까지 말씀드린 내용들 뿐 아니라, 다음과 같은 사실들로도 분명한데요, 그 교회를 ‘에노스’라 한다는 것, 이 이름의 뜻 역시 ‘사람’(man)인데, 천적 인간(天人, celestial man)을 말하는 건 아니고, 대신 영적 인간(靈人, spiritual man)의 성향을 띤 평범한 인간을 의미하는, 이런 게 ‘에노스’라는 것입니다. 바로 이어지는 ‘그때에 사람들이 비로소 여호와의 이름을 불렀더라’라는 말씀으로도 분명합니다. That by “Seth” is signified the faith through which comes charity was shown in the preceding verse. That by his “son, whose name was Enosh,” is signified a church that regarded charity as the principal of faith, is also evident from what has been said before, as well as from the fact that it is called “Enosh,” which name also means a “man,” not a celestial man, but that human spiritual man which is here called “Enosh.” The same is evident also from the words that immediately follow: “then began they to call upon the name of Jehovah.”
