※ AC.205, 창3:4-5, '뱀이 여자에게 이르되 너희가 결코 죽지 아니하리라'(AC.204-206) - '주님으로부터 독립, 홀로 서고자 하는 세 번째 후손'

4-5절, 4뱀이 여자에게 이르되 너희가 결코 죽지 아니하리라 5너희가 그것을 먹는 날에는 너희 눈이 밝아져 하나님과 같이 되어 선악을 알 줄 하나님이 아심이니라 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.

모든 구절에는 그 교회의 어떤 특별한 상태나 상태의 변화가 들어 있습니다. 앞선 구절들에는 그들의 그런 기울어짐에도 불구, 그들은 그것이 불법임을 지각했다는 내용이 들어 있고, 이들 구절에는 그것이 자기들한테 합법이 아닌지 여부에 대해 의심하기 시작했다는 내용이 들어 있습니다. 그렇게 해서 그들은 선조들로부터 들어왔던 것들이 참된 것인지 여부를 보게 될 것이고, 그러면서 그들의 눈이 열릴 것이기 때문입니다. Every verse contains a particular state, or change of state, in the church: the preceding verses, that although thus inclined they nevertheless perceived it to be unlawful; these verses, an incipient doubt whether it might not be lawful for them, since they would thus see whether the things they had heard from their forefathers were true, and so their eyes would be opened;

※ 그러니까 두 번째 후손까지는 그래도 '아니야, 이것은 불법이야!' 하는 단호함이 있었다면, 이 세 번째 후손부터는 '혹시 불법이 아닐 수도 있지 않을까?' 하는 좀 완화된, 그런 변화가 있었다는 말입니다. 즉 주님이 주신 퍼셉션이 흐려지기 시작한 것이지요. 태고교회의 후손들이 주님보다는 자신에게 주목하게 되면서, 그에 비례해서 주님이 주신 퍼셉션이 흐릿해지기 시작한 겁니다. 퍼셉션은 어떤 선과 진리가 주님으로 말미암은 것인지 여부를 직관적으로 아는 능력이므로, 이것이 흐릿해지면 덩달아 선과 진리에 대한 총명 또한 흐려지지요.

결국, 자기 사랑이 우위를 점한 결과, 그들은 스스로를 인도할 수 있을 것 같고, 그렇게 해서 주님처럼 될 수 있을 것 같다고 생각하기 시작했습니다. 그런 게 주님의 인도하심에 복종하기를 꺼리는, 그리고 혼자 알아서 사는 것과, 그렇게 되어 믿음이 필요한 일들에 대해 감각과 기억-지식에 속한 것들 컨설팅하는 걸 더 선호하는 자기 사랑의 본성이기 때문입니다. at length, in consequence of the ascendancy of self-love, they began to think that they could lead themselves, and thus be like the Lord; for such is the nature of the love of self that it is unwilling to submit to the Lord’s leading, and prefers to be self-guided, and being self-guided to consult the things of sense and of memory-knowledge as to what is to be believed.

‘그것을 먹는 날에는 너희 눈이 밝아져’(Their eyes being opened by eating of the fruit of the tree)는 만일 그들이 신앙에 관한 것들을 무슨 감각과 지식에 관한 걸로, 즉 자신들이 가진 걸로 조사, 검사, 검토할 경우, 그들은 분명 그것들, 곧 그 신앙에 관한 것들을 잘못된 걸로, 틀린 걸로 볼 거라는 말입니다. 그리고 그들이 ‘하나님과 같이 되어 선악을 알 줄’(as God, knowing good and evil)은 만일 그들이 자신들을 기준 삼아 그런 짓을 하면, 그들은 마치 자신이 하나님인 양 스스로를 인도하려 할 것이라는, 즉 하나님의 인도를 구하는 대신 오직 자기 힘으로만 살아가려 할 것이라는 말입니다. Their “eyes being opened by eating of the fruit of the tree” signifies that if they were to examine the things of faith from what is of sense and knowledge [ex sensuali et scientifico], that is, from themselves, they would plainly see those things as if erroneous. And that they would be “as God, knowing good and evil,” denotes that if they did so from themselves, they would be as God, and could guide themselves.

※ AC.203, 창3:2-3, '여자가 뱀에게 말하되 동산 나무의 열매를'(AC.198-203) - '신앙 관련, 영적 천사들의 퍼셉션'

2-3절, 2여자가 뱀에게 말하되 동산 나무의 열매를 우리가 먹을 수 있으나 3동산 중앙에 있는 나무의 열매는 하나님의 말씀에 너희는 먹지도 말고 만지지도 말라 너희가 죽을까 하노라 하셨느니라 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the tree of the garden; But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

그러나 영적 천사들은 신앙에 관한 대화를 하며, 지성적, 이성적, 그리고 지적 언어들로 신앙에 속한 것들을 심지어 확증까지 하지만, 그러나 이들은 결코 신앙 관련 주제들에 관한 자신들의 결론을 그런 걸 기반으로 내지는 않습니다. 그런 짓을 하는 자는 악 가운데 있기 때문이지요. 이들은 또한 신앙에 속한 모든 진리에 관한 퍼셉션을 주님으로부터 부여받습니다. 비록 천적 천사들의 것과 같은 그런 퍼셉션은 아니지만 말입니다. 영적 천사들의 퍼셉션은 일종의 양심인데요, 이것은 주님으로 말미암아 생명력을 갖는, 겉보기엔 정말 천적 퍼셉션같지만 실제로는 그건 아니고, 오직 영적 퍼셉션일 뿐입니다. The spiritual angels, however, converse about faith, and even confirm the things of faith by those of the intellect, of the reason, and of the memory, but they never form their conclusions concerning matters of faith on such grounds: those who do this are in evil. They are also endowed by the Lord with a perception of all the truths of faith, although not with such a perception as is that of the celestial angels. The perception of the spiritual angels is a kind of conscience which is vivified by the Lord and which indeed appears like celestial perception, yet is not so, but is only spiritual perception.
