AC.131-137

창2:18-25

18. 여호와 하나님이 이르시되 사람이 혼자 사는 것이 좋지 아니하니 내가 그를 위하여 돕는 배필을 지으리라 하시니라

And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him a help as with him.

19. 여호와 하나님이 흙으로 각종 들짐승과 공중의 각종 새를 지으시고 아담이 무엇이라고 부르나 보시려고 그것들을 그에게로 이끌어 가시니 아담이 각 생물을 부르는 것이 곧 그 이름이 되었더라

And Jehovah God formed out of the ground every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heavens, and brought it to the man to see what he would call it; and whatsoever the man called every living soul, that was the name thereof.

20. 아담이 모든 가축과 공중의 새와 들의 모든 짐승에게 이름을 주니라 아담이 돕는 배필이 없으므로

And the man gave names to every beast, and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every wild animal of the field; but for the man there was not found a help as with him.

21. 여호와 하나님이 아담을 깊이 잠들게 하시니 잠들매 그가 그 갈빗대 하나를 취하고 살로 대신 채우시고

And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in the place thereof.

22. 여호와 하나님이 아담에게서 취하신 그 갈빗대로 여자를 만드시고 그를 아담에게로 이끌어 오시니

And the rib which Jehovah God had taken from the man, he built into a woman, and brought her to the man.

23. 아담이 이르되 이는 내 뼈 중의 뼈요 살 중의 살이라 이것을 남자에게서 취하였은즉 여자라 부르리라 하니라

And the man said, This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; therefore she shall be called wife, because she was taken out of man [vir].

24. 이러므로 남자가 부모를 떠나 그의 아내와 합하여 둘이 한 몸을 이룰지로다

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.

25. 아담과 그의 아내 두 사람이 벌거벗었으나 부끄러워하지 아니하니라

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

The Contents

131. 여기서부터는 태고교회의 후세, 후대의 the posterity of the most ancient church 이야기입니다. 이들은 자신들의 본성(本性, proprium)을 향해 기울어진 사람들입니다. which inclined to their own,

132. 인간은 주님의 인도하심으로 만족해 하기 보다는 혼자 힘으로 세상의 인도함을 받거나 본성을 따라 살기를 더욱 원하는 desires to be led also by himself and the world, or by his own, 존재들이기 때문에, 여기서는 그런 인간에게 부여된 인간의 본성을 the own which was granted him 다루고 있습니다. (18절)

133. 그래서 먼저 그로 하여금 알게 하시려고 그에게 선에 관한 애정들과 진리에 관한 지식들을 the affections of good and the knowledges of truth 주십니다. 이것들은 주님이 그에게 무상으로 주시는 것입니다. with which he is endowed by the Lord 그러나 인간은 여전히 자기 본성을 향해 기울어지고 있습니다. still he inclines to his own (19-20절)

134. 이런 이유로, wherefore 인간은 자기 본성이라는 상태 안으로 깊이 박혀 있으며, he is let into a state of his own, 그래서 그에게 어떤 또 하나의 본성이 그에게 주어지는데, and an own is given him, 이 새로운 본성을 여자로 빚어지는 갈빗대로 설명하신 것입니다. (21-23절)

135. 천적 생명과 영적 생명이 인간의 본성과 붙어 있게 되고, celestial and spiritual life are adjoined to the man’s own, 그렇게 해서 이 둘은 하나로 보이게 되는 것입니다. so that they appear as a one (24절)

136. 그리고 주님으로부터 순진함이 이 본성 안으로 스며드는데요, 이 일은 주님이 하시는 일이기 때문에 여전히 안 받아들여지기에는 무리가 있을 것입니다. so that it still might not be unacceptable (25절)

속뜻

The Internal Sense

137. 창세기의 첫 세 장은 대체로 태고교회(太古敎會, the most ancient church)를 다루고 있습니다. 태고교회의 첫 시기부터 끝에 가서 사라지게 될 때까지, 이 교회는 ‘사람(man, homo)’으로 회자되었는데요, 이 장의 전반부에서는 이 태고교회가 가장 융성했던 상태, 곧 천적 인간이었던 상태를 다루었다면, 이제 여기 후반부에서는 이 교회의 후손과 그들이 주님이 아닌 자기 자신에게로 기울어지게 된 이야기를 다루고 있습니다.

창2:16

여호와 하나님이 그 사람에게 명하여 이르시되 동산 각종 나무의 열매는 네가 임의로 먹되

And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden, eating thou mayest eat.

125. ‘각종 나무를 먹는 것’은 무엇이 선이요 진리인지를 퍼셉션(perceptin, 知覺)을 가지고 아는 것입니다. to know from perception what is good and true; 앞서 관찰한 것처럼 ‘나무’는 퍼셉션을 상징하기 때문입니다.

태고교회인들은 the men of the most ancient church 계시들로 말미암아 참 신앙의 지식들을 the knowledges of true faith by means of revelations 갖고 있었습니다. 그들은 주님과 대화하였고, they conversed with the Lord 천사들하고도 그랬습니다. 또한 비전들과 드림들로 인도함을 받았는데 instructed by visions and dreams 이런 경험들은 그들에게 참으로 기쁘고 행복한 천상 낙원과도 같은 most delightful and paradisal 것들이었습니다.

그들은 주님으로부터 퍼셉션을 지속적으로 받았습니다. 그래서 그들은 마음 속 고이 간직하고 있던 어떤 기억들이 생각날 때면 when they reflected on what was treasured up in the memory 그들은 그 기억들이 참이요, 선인지를 즉각적으로 지각했고, instantly perceived 만일 그 기억이 거짓으로 드러나면 when anything false presented itself, 그들은 그것을 피할 뿐 아니라 몸서리를 쳤습니다. even regarded it with horror; 이런 모습은 또한 천사의 상태이기도 합니다.

태고교회의 이런 퍼셉션이 그러나 후대로 내려오면서는 선과 진리에 관한 지식들로 대체되어 in place of 계승되었는데, succeeded 이 지식들은 선대에 밝혀진 것들과 the knowledge [cognitio] of what is true and good from what had been previously revealed, 나중엔 말씀 가운데 계시된 사실들에서 나온 것입니다. from what was revealed in the Word.

창2:15

여호와 하나님이 그 사람을 이끌어 에덴 동산에 두어 그것을 경작하며 지키게 하시고

And Jehovah God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden, to till it and take care of it.

122. ‘에덴 동산’은 이미 설명한 대로 천적 인간의 모든 것을 all things of the celestial man, ‘그것을 경작하며 지키게 하시고’는 그가 그 모든 것을 누리게는 하셨으나 it is permitted him to enjoy all these things 자신의 것으로 소유하지는 못 하게 하셨다는 not to possess them as his own 뜻입니다. 그 이유는, 그 모든 것은 주님의 것이기 they are the Lord’s 때문입니다.

123. 천적 인간은 the celestial man 모든 것을 지각하여 he perceives 만물이 다 주님의 것이라고 인정합니다. all things both in general and in particular are the Lord’s.

영적 인간은 the spiritual man 실제로는 같은 걸 인정하면서도 does indeed acknowledge the same 입으로만 합니다. with the mouth, 영적 인간은 말씀을 가지고 학습을 해서 알기 has learned it from the Word 때문입니다.

세속적이고 육신적인 인간은 the worldly and corporeal man 사실에 대한 정당한 인정도, 마지못한 인정도 안 합니다. neither acknowledges nor admits it 자기가 가진 건 뭐든지 ‘이건 내 꺼야’라고 whatever he has he calls his own 하며, 만약 그걸 잃게 되면, were he to lose it, 자기는 완전히 망하는 거라고 he would altogether perish 생각합니다. imagines that

124. 지혜, 지성, 이성, 그리고 지식은 wisdom, intelligence, reason, and knowledge [scientia] 사람의 것이 아니고 주님의 것입니다. are not of man, but of the Lord 이것은 주님이 가르치신 모든 것을 보면 분명합니다.

마태복음에서 주님은 자신을 ‘포도원을 만들어 산울타리로 두르고 농부들에게 세로 준’ 집주인으로 비유하셨습니다.

다른 한 비유를 들으라 한 집 주인이 포도원을 만들어 산울타리로 두르고 거기에 즙 짜는 틀을 만들고 망대를 짓고 농부들에게 세로 주고 타국에 갔더니 (마21:33)

요한복음입니다.

그러나 진리의 성령이 오시면 그가 너희를 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하시리니 그가 스스로 말하지 않고 오직 들은 것을 말하며 장래 일을 너희에게 알리시리라 그가 내 영광을 나타내리니 내 것을 가지고 너희에게 알리시겠음이라 (요16:13-14)

요한이 대답하여 이르되 만일 하늘에서 주신 바 아니면 사람이 아무 것도 받을 수 없느니라 (요3:27)

이것이 정말 그렇다는 것은 천국 아케이나에 관하여 아주 조금만 익힌 사람이면 who is acquainted with even a few of the arcana of heaven 누구나 다 아는 사실입니다.
