천국 각 공동체도 저마다 한 사람을 반영한다

Each Society in Heaven Reflects a Single Man

68. 저는 허락을 받아 천국 각 공동체는 한 사람을 반영하며, 사람 모양임을 그동안 자주 보아왔습니다. I have frequently been permitted to see that each society of heaven reflects a single man, and is in the likeness of a man.

빛의 천사로 위장하는 법을 아는 몇몇이 슬그머니 잠입하는 어느 공동체가 있었습니다. There was a society into which several had insinuated themselves who knew how to counterfeit angels of light.

그들은 위선의 영들이었습니다. These were hypocrites.

저는 그들이 천사들에게서 분리되는 장면을 본 적이 있는데, 그것은 먼저, 그 공동체 전체가 어렴풋한 한 사람 모습으로 나타나더니 점점 사람 형태로, 그러나 여전히 어렴풋하다가, 이윽고 아주 또렷한 사람 모양이 되었습니다. When these were being separated from the angels I saw that the entire society appeared at first like a single indistinct body, then by degrees in a human form, but still indistinctly, and at last clearly as a man.

그 사람 안에서 그 사람을 구성하고 있었던 구성원들은 그 공동체의 선 안에 있었던 반면, 그 사람 안에 있지도, 그 사람을 구성하지도 않았던 자들은 위선의 영들이었습니다. 이들은 내쳐졌고, 그 공동체는 그 전 상태로 회복되었습니다. 천사 공동체와 위장 잠입한 영들 간 분리는 이렇게 이루어졌습니다. Those that were in that man and made up the man were such as were in the good of that society; the others who were not in the man and did not make up the man were hypocrites; these were cast out and the former were retained; and thus a separation was effected.

위선자들은 말도 잘하고 선행도 하지만 모든 걸 자기를 위해 하는 그런 사람들입니다. Hypocrites are such as talk well and also do well, but have regard to themselves in everything.

그들은 주님과 천국, 사랑과 천국의 삶에 관해 천사들처럼 말하며, 또 올바른 행동을 합니다. 자기들이 주장하는 그런 사람들인 것처럼 보이려고 말입니다. They talk as angels do about the Lord, heaven, love, and heavenly life, and also act rightly, so that they may appear to be what they profess to be.

그러나 그들의 속 생각은 다릅니다. 그들은 아무 것도 믿지 않으며, 그들은 자신들 말고는 아무의 행운도 빌지 않습니다. But their thinking is different; they believe nothing; and they wish good to none but themselves.

그들의 선행은 그저 자신을 위한 것이거나, 설령 타인을 위한 것이어도 그건 겉보기에만 그럴 뿐, 사실은 자신을 위한 것입니다. Their doing good is for the sake of self, or if for the sake of others it is only for the appearance, and thus still for the sake of self.

69. 저는 또 주님의 허락으로 주님이 어느 천사 공동체에 눈에 보이게 임하실 때, 그 공동체 전체가 한 사람 형태로 나타나는 것을 본 적이 있습니다. I have also been permitted to see that an entire angelic society, where the Lord is visibly present, appears as a one in the human form.

거기 높이 동쪽을 향해 뭔가 구름 같은 것이 나타나 하얗게 빛나다가 붉게 변하며, 주변에 작은 별들과 함께 내려오면서 점점 환해지더니, 마침내 완벽한 사람 형태가 되는 것이었습니다. There appeared on high toward the east something like a cloud, from glowing white becoming red, and with little stars round about, which was descending; and as it gradually descended it became brighter, and at last appeared in a perfect human form.

구름 주변 작은 별들은 천사들이었는데, 주님으로부터 나오는 빛을 받아 그렇게 보였던 것입니다. The little stars round about the cloud were angels, who so appeared by virtue of light from the Lord.

70. 어느 천국 공동체 내 모두가 다 함께 하나로 보여 한 사람 모습으로 나타날지라도, 어느 공동체든지 그 사람 모습이 서로 똑같지는 않다는 사실을 꼭 이해하셔야 합니다. It must be understood that although all in a heavenly society when seen together as one appear in the likeness of a man; yet no one society is just such a man as another.

한 가족 식구들의 얼굴이 다 다르듯 공동체들도 다 다릅니다. 이는 앞서 47번 글에서 말씀드린 내용, 곧, 그들의 어떠함과 형태를 결정짓는 것은 그들에게 있는 선의 다양함에 따른 것이기 때문입니다. Societies differ from one another like the faces of different individuals of the same family, for the reason given above (n. 47), that is, they differ in accordance with the varieties of good in which they are and which determines their form.

천국의 가장 안쪽, 곧 높은, 그리고 그 중심에 있는 공동체들은 가장 완벽하고 아름다운 사람 형태입니다. The societies of the inmost or highest heaven, and in the center there, are those that appear in the most perfect and beautiful human form.

71. 천국에서 어느 공동체 구성원 수가 많으면 많을수록, 그리고 그 모두가 모여 하나를 만들면 만들수록 그 공동체의 사람 형태는 더욱 더 완벽합니다. 천국 형태로 배열된 다양성에서 그 완벽성이 나오기 때문인데, 이 내용은 앞서 56번 글에서 다루었습니다. 다양성은 숫자에서 나옵니다. It is worthy of mention that the greater the number in any society in heaven and the more these make a one, the more perfect is its human form, for variety arranged in a heavenly form is what constitutes perfection, as has been shown above (n. 56), and number gives variety.

게다가 천국 모든 공동체마다 날마다 그 구성원 수가 증가하며, 그럴수록 각 공동체는 더욱 완벽해져 갑니다. Moreover, every society of heaven increases in number daily, and as it increases it becomes more perfect.

그렇게 각 공동체뿐 아니라 천국 전체도 더 완벽해져 가는데요, 천국은 공동체들로 구성되기 때문입니다. Thus not only the society becomes more perfect, but also heaven in general, because it is made up of societies.

천국은 그 구성원의 수적 증가로 완벽해진다는 이 사실로 분명히 알 수 있는 건, 천국은 가득 차 닫히게 될 것이라 믿는 사람들이 얼마나 큰 오류 가운데 있나 하는 것입니다. 사실은 그 정반대로, 천국은 결코 닫히지 않으며, 오히려 더 확장하고 더 확장함으로써 완벽해지기 때문입니다. As heaven gains in perfection by increase of numbers, it is evident how mistaken those are who believe that heaven may be closed by becoming full; for the opposite is true, that it will never be closed, but is perfected by greater and greater fullness.

그래서 천사들은 신입 천사가 오는 것만큼 더 간절히 바라는 것은 없습니다. Therefore, the angels desire nothing so much as to have new angel guests come to them.

72. 각 공동체는 그 전체가 하나로 보일 때, 한 사람 형태입니다. 그 이유는, (앞장에서 보여드린 것처럼) 천국 전체가 그 형태이기 때문입니다. 나아가 천국과 같은 가장 완벽한 형태에서는 전체와 부분 사이 유사성이 있어 가장 큰 형태와 작은 것 사이가 그렇습니다. Each society, when it appears as one whole, is in the form of a man, for the reason that heaven as a whole has that form (as has been shown in the preceding chapter); moreover, in the most perfect form, such as the form of heaven is, there is a likeness of the parts to the whole, and of lesser forms to the greatest.

천국의 더 작은 형태와 부분들은 천국을 구성하는 공동체들인데, 이 역시 더 작은 형태의 천국들입니다. (HH.51-58 참조) The lesser forms and parts of heaven are the societies of which it consists, which are also heavens in lesser form (see 51–58).

이 유사성은 반복되며, 항구적인데요, 그 이유는, 천국의 모든 선은 하나의 사랑, 곧, 하나의 근원에서 나오기 때문입니다. This likeness is perpetual because in the heavens the goods of all are from a single love, that is, from a single origin.

이 유일한 사랑, 곧, 천국 모든 선의 기원은 주님으로 말미암는 주님 사랑입니다. The single love, which is the origin of the good of all in heaven, is love to the Lord from the Lord.

일반적으로는 천국 전체가, 대략적으로는 각 공동체가, 그리고 특별하게는 개별 천사가 주님을 닮은 것은 바로 이런 이유 때문이며, 이는 앞서 58번 글에서 보여드렸습니다. It is from this that the entire heaven in general, each society less generally, and each angel in particular, is a likeness of the Lord, as has been shown above (n. 58).
