천국의 네 방위 The Four Quarters in Heaven

주112. 가장 높은 뜻으로, 주님은 동방(the east [oriens])이시다. 주님은 천국의 해이시며, 늘 떠오르시고 결코 지지 않으시기 때문이다 (AC.101, 5097, 9668). In the highest sense the Lord is the east [oriens], because He is the sun of heaven, which is always rising and never setting (n. 101, 5097, 9668).

주113. 천국의 모두는 주님을 향해 몸을 돌린다 (AC.9828, 10130, 10189, 10420). In heaven all turn themselves to the Lord (n. 9828, 10130, 10189, 10420). 그럼에도 주님을 향해 몸을 돌리는 것은 천사들이 아니다. 주님이 천사들로 하여금 주님을 향해 돌아서게 하시는 것이다 (AC.10189). Nevertheless, it is not the angels that turn themselves to the Lord, but the Lord turns the angels to Himself (n. 10189). 천사들이 주님과 함께하는 게 아니라 주님이 천사들과 함께하시는 것이다 (AC.9415). It is not that the angels are present with the Lord, but the Lord is present with the angels (n. 9415).

주114. 영계에서는 모두가 항상 자신들의 사랑을 향해 몸을 돌린다. 그리고 그곳의 방위들은 얼굴에서 시작하고 얼굴로 결정된다 (AC.10130, 10189, 10420, 10702). In the spiritual world all constantly turn themselves to their loves; and the quarters there have their beginning in the face and are determined by it (n. 10130, 10189, 10420, 10702). 얼굴은 내면(the interiors)에 대한 상응으로 형성된다 (AC.4791–4805, 5695). The face is formed to a correspondence with the interiors (n. 4791–4805, 5695). 그래서 내면은 얼굴로 빛난다 (AC.3527, 4066, 4796). Therefore the interiors shine forth from the face (n. 3527, 4066, 4796). 천사들한테는 얼굴과 내면이 하나다 (AC.4796, 4797, 4799, 5695, 8250). With angels the face makes one with the interiors (n. 4796, 4797, 4799, 5695, 8250). 얼굴과 그 근육들 안으로 흘러 들어가는 내면의 입류 (AC.3631, 4800). The influx of the interiors into the face and its muscles (n. 3631, 4800).

주115. 이마는 천국 사랑에 상응한다. 그래서 말씀에서 ‘이마’는 사랑을 의미한다 (AC.9936). The forehead corresponds to heavenly love; therefore in the Word the “forehead” signifies that love (n. 9936). 눈은 이해에 상응한다. 이해는 내적 시각(internal sight)이기 때문이다 (AC.2701, 4410, 4526, 9051, 10569). The eye corresponds to the understanding, because the understanding is internal sight (n. 2701, 4410, 4526, 9051, 10569). 이런 이유로, ‘눈을 든다’(to lift up the eyes), ‘본다’(to see)는 이해, 지각 및 보는 것(to observe)을 의미한다 (AC.2789, 2829, 3198, 3202, 4083, 4086, 4339, 5684). For this reason “to lift up the eyes” and “to see” signifies to understand, perceive, and observe (n. 2789, 2829, 3198, 3202, 4083, 4086, 4339, 5684).

주116. 말씀에서 ‘주님의 살’(the Lord’s flesh)은 주님의 신적 인성(His Divine human)을, 그리고 주님 사랑의 신적 선(the Divine good of His love)을 의미한다 (AC.3813, 7850, 9127, 10283). In the Word “the Lord’s flesh” signifies His Divine human, and the Divine good of His love (n. 3813, 7850, 9127, 10283). 그리고 ‘주님의 피’(the Lord’s blood)는 신적 진리와 신앙의 거룩함(Divine truth and the holy of faith)을 의미한다 (AC.4735, 4978, 6978, 7317, 7326, 7846, 7850, 7877, 9127, 9393, 10026, 10033, 10152, 10210). And “the Lord’s blood” signifies Divine truth and the holy of faith (n. 4735, 4978, 6978, 7317, 7326, 7846, 7850, 7877, 9127, 9393, 10026, 10033, 10152, 10210).

주117. 말씀에서 ‘동’(東, the east)은 분명하게 지각된 사랑을 (AC.1250, 3708); In the Word the “east” signifies love clearly perceived (n. 1250, 3708); ‘서’(西, the west)는 흐릿하게 지각된 사랑을 (AC.3708, 9653); the “west” love obscurely perceived (n. 3708, 9653); ‘남’(南, the south)은 빛, 즉 지혜와 지성의 상태를 (AC.1458, 3708, 5672); the “south” a state of light, that is, of wisdom and intelligence (n. 1458, 3708, 5672); ‘북’(北, the north)은 불명료한 상태를 의미한다 (AC.3708). and the “north” that state in obscurity (n. 3708).

주118. 악마라고 하는 자들이 누구이며 무엇인지, 그리고 악령이라고 하는 자들은 누구이며 무엇인지 (AC.947, 5035, 5977, 8593, 8622, 8625). Who and what those are who are called genii, and who and what those are who are called spirits (n. 947, 5035, 5977, 8593, 8622, 8625).

주119. 자기 사랑과 세상 사랑 안에 있는 자들은 주님을 향해 등을 돌린다 (AC.10130, 10189, 10420, 10702). Those that are in the loves of self and of the world turn themselves backwards from the Lord (n. 10130, 10189, 10420, 10702). 주님 사랑과 이웃 사랑은 천국을 만드는 반면, 자기 사랑과 세상 사랑은 지옥을 만든다. 이 둘은 서로 정반대이기 때문이다 (AC.2041, 3610, 4225, 4776, 6210, 7366, 7369, 7490, 8232, 8678, 10455, 10741–10745). Love to the Lord and charity toward the neighbor make heaven, while love of self and love of the world make hell, because the two are opposite (n. 2041, 3610, 4225, 4776, 6210, 7366, 7369, 7490, 8232, 8678, 10455, 10741–10745).

천국 천사들의 상태 변화 Changes of State of the Angels in Heaven

주120. 천국에는 아침 전 새벽에 상응하는 상태는 있지만, 밤에 상응하는 상태는 없다 (AC.6110). In heaven there is a state corresponding to the dawn that precedes morning, but no state corresponding to night (n. 6110). ‘새벽’은 처음 상태와 마지막 상태 사이 중간 상태다 (AC.10134). The “dawn” signifies a middle state between the last and the first (n. 10134).

주121. 이 세상 하루 중 시간들처럼 천국에서 일어나는 각성과 지각(enlightenment and perception) 관련, 상태들의 교대 (AC.5672, 5962, 6110, 8426, 9213, 10605). Alternations of state in respect to enlightenment and perception occur in heaven, like the times of day in the world (n. 5672, 5962, 6110, 8426, 9213, 10605). 말씀에 나오는 ‘날’과 ‘해’는 일반적으로 모든 상태를 의미한다 (AC.23, 487, 488, 493, 893, 2788, 3462, 4850, 10656). In the Word “day” and “year” signify all states in general (n. 23, 487, 488, 493, 893, 2788, 3462, 4850, 10656). ‘아침’은 어떤 새로운 상태의 시작, 그리고 사랑의 상태를 의미한다 (AC.7218, 8426, 8427, 10114, 10134). “Morning” signifies the beginning of a new state, and a state of love (n. 7218, 8426, 8427, 10114, 10134). ‘저녁’은 빛과 사랑이 기우는 상태를 의미한다 (AC.10134, 10135). “Evening” signifies a state of declining light and love (n. 10134, 10135). ‘밤’은 사랑이나 신앙이 전혀 없는 상태를 의미한다 (AC.221, 709, 2353, 6000, 6110, 7870, 7947). “Night” signifies a state of no love or faith (n. 221, 709, 2353, 6000, 6110, 7870, 7947).

주122. 사람의 본성(own [proprium])은 자아를 사랑하는 것이다 (AC.694, 731, 4317, 5660). Man’s own [proprium] is loving self (n. 694, 731, 4317, 5660). 주님은 인간 본성에 관한 것(what is man’s own)이 옆으로 비켜서지 않는 한 임재하실 수 없으시다 (AC.1023, 1044). The Lord cannot be present unless what is man’s own is set aside (n. 1023, 1044). 사람은 주님에 의해 선 안에 머무를 때라야 실제로 옆으로 비켜설 수 있게 된다 (AC.9334–9336, 9447, 9452–9454, 9938). It is actually set aside when one is held in good by the Lord (n. 9334–9336, 9447, 9452–9454, 9938).

주123. 천사들은 영원히 완벽해져 간다 (AC.4803, 6648). The angels are being perfected to eternity (n. 4803, 6648). 천국에서는 한 상태가 다른 상태와 똑같은 경우가 절대 일어나지 않는다. 그러니까 완벽해지는 과정이 절대 멈추지 않는다 (AC.10200). In the heavens one state is never just like another, and from this there is an unceasing process of perfection (n. 10200).

주125. 사람들은 영원을 생각할 때 시간과 관련짓지만, 천사들은 시간으로부터 물러난다 (AC.1382, 3404, 8325). Men have an idea of eternity associated with time, but angels apart from time (n. 1382, 3404, 8325).

주126. 사람은 천사들처럼 시간 개념에서 물러나 생각하지 않는다 (AC.3404). Man does not think, as angels do, apart from the idea of time (n. 3404).
