21절, 여호와 하나님이 아담과 그의 아내를 위하여 가죽옷을 지어 입히시니라 And Jehovah God made for the man and for his wife coats of skin, and clothed them.

태고인(太古人)들을 일컬어 ‘가죽으로 지은 옷을 입은 사람들’이라고 하는 이유는 그들이 ‘벌거벗은 사람들’(naked)이었기 때문입니다. 이노센스(innocence, 순진무구)의 사람들이었기 때문이지요. 그러나 그들은 자신들에게 있던 이 이노센스를 잃어버렸고, 그러자 자신들이 악 가운데 있음을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 이 역시 ‘벌거벗음’(nakedness)이기 때문입니다. (태고인들의 스피킹 방식에 맞춰) 모든 일이 상호 긴밀히 실제로 일어난 것처럼 보일지도 모르겠습니다. 여기 그들은 ‘벗은 채로 있게 될까 봐 주님이 자기들에게 옷을 입히셨다’ 라고 합니다. 악 가운데 있는 것은 벗은 채로 있는 것입니다. 그들이 영적 자연적 선 가운데 있음이 분명한 것은 그들에 관한 언급인 위 본 장 1절로 13절까지 내용과, 그것이 여기 ‘여호와 하나님이 그들을 위하여 가죽옷을 지어 입히셨다’는 내용과 연관되는 것을 보면 분명합니다. 여기서는 그 교회의 첫 번째, 그리고 더욱 특별히는 두 번째, 세 번째 후손들을 다루고 있기 때문인데, 이들은 그런 선을 받은 사람들이었기 때문입니다. The reason why they are said to be “clothed with a coat of skin,” is that the most ancient people were said to be “naked,” on account of their innocence; but when they lost their innocence they became conscious that they were in evil, which also is called “nakedness.” That all things might appear to cohere historically (in accordance with the way of speaking of the most ancient people), they are here said to be “clothed lest they should be naked,” or in evil. Their being in spiritual and natural good is evident from what was remarked above concerning them, from verse 1 to 13 of this chapter, as well as from its being here related that “Jehovah God made them a coat of skin, and clothed them”; for it here treats of the first—and more especially of the second and third—posterities of the church, who were endowed with such good.
