그러나 노아는 여호와께 은혜를 입었더라 And Noah found grace in the eyes of Jehovah. (창6:8)

 

 

596. ‘노아’는 새 교회를 상징합니다. By “Noah” is signified a new church.

 

그가 ‘여호와께 은혜를 입었더라’라는 말씀은, 주님은 인류가 이렇게 구원받게 될 것임을 예견하셨다는 뜻입니다. That he “found grace in the eyes of Jehovah” signifies that the Lord foresaw that the human race might thus be saved.

 

즉, 이것이 인류가 구원받는 방법임을 주님은 예견하셨다는 것입니다.

 

597. ‘노아’는 고대 교회라 하는 새 교회를 상징하는데요, 고대 교회라는 명칭은 홍수 전 존재했던 태고 교회와, 홍수 후 존재했던 이 교회를 구별해 부르기 위한 것입니다. By “Noah” is signified a new church, which is to be called the ancient church, for the sake of distinction between the most ancient church, which was before the flood, and that which was after the flood.

 

이들 두 교회들의 상태는 완전히 달랐습니다. The states of these two churches were entirely different.

 

태고 교회의 상태는, 그들은 주님으로부터 선과 거기서 나오는 진리에 관한 일종의 퍼셉션(perception, 지각, 배우지 않고도 주님의 선과 진리를 아는 타고난 능력)을 받은 그런 상태였습니다. The state of the most ancient church was such that they had from the Lord a perception of good and the derivative truth.

 

고대 교회, 혹은 ‘노아’의 상태는, 그들은 선과 진리에 관한 일종의 양심을 갖게 되었습니다. The state of the ancient church, or “Noah,” became such that they had a conscience of good and truth.

 

즉, 선량함(goodness)과 진실에 관한 일종의 양심으로 상태가 바뀐 것입니다.

 

태고 교회와 고대 교회 간 상태의 차이는 이런 차이, 곧 퍼셉션을 갖는 것과 양심을 갖는 것 간 차이였습니다. Such as is the difference between having perception and having conscience, such was the difference of state of the most ancient and the ancient churches.

 

퍼셉션은 양심이 아닙니다. 천적(天的, celestial) 천사들은 퍼셉션을, 영적(靈的, spiritual) 천사들은 양심을 갖고 있습니다. Perception is not conscience: the celestial have perception; the spiritual have conscience.

 

태고 교회는 천적이었고, 고대 교회는 영적이었습니다. The most ancient church was celestial, the ancient was spiritual.

 

[2] 태고 교회는 영들 및 천사들과 어울려 지냄을 통해, 그리고 비전 및 꿈을 통해, 주님으로부터 직접 계시를 받았고, 그렇게 해서 그들에게는 선과 진리를 인식할 수 있는 일반적인 능력이 생겼습니다. 그들이 이런 걸 인식하게 되자, 이번에는 이런 퍼셉션 능력으로 얻게 된 무수한 인사이트들(insights, 통찰력)을 통해 가장 근본적이고 보편적인 원리들, 말하자면, 엑시엄(axioms, 자명한 이치, 公理)들을 컨펌하게 되었습니다. 이들 인사이트들은 특정 디테일들을 구성하는데, 넓은 카테고리들이 이런 디테일들로 채워지는 그런 것입니다. The most ancient church had immediate revelation from the Lord by consort with spirits and angels, as also by visions and dreams; whereby it was given them to have a general knowledge of what was good and true; and after they had acquired a general knowledge, these general leading principles, as we may call them, were confirmed by things innumerable, by means of perceptions; and these innumerable things were the particulars or individual things of the general principles to which they related.

 

즉, 천국, 곧 주님의 신적 질서의 나라, 질서정연한 진리 체계가 차곡차곡 각 사람 내면에 자리 잡아갔음을 말하는 것입니다.

 

이런 식으로 가장 보편적이고 근본적인 원리들이 날마다 컨펌되었습니다. 무엇이든지 이 원리에 부합하지 않으면 그들은 그걸 그렇지 않은 것으로, 부합하면 그런 것으로 지각했습니다. Thus were the general leading principles corroborated day by day; whatever was not in agreement with the general principles they perceived not to be so; and whatever was in agreement with them they perceived to be so.

 

즉, 주님의 신적 질서의 근본에 대한 감각이 저변에 깔려 있어 어떤 것이 그 질서에 맞는지, 안 맞는지를 직관할 줄 아는 사람들이었다는 말입니다.

 

천적 천사들이 바로 이런 상태입니다. Such also is the state of the celestial angels.

 

[3] 태고 교회의 보편적 원리들, 곧 엑시엄들은 천적이며, 영원한 진리들이었습니다. 예를 들면, 다음과 같은 것들입니다. 주님이 모든 피조세계를 다스리신다. 모든 선과 진리는 주님으로 말미암는다. 모든 생명은 주님으로 말미암는다. 사람의 것(own, 사람에게 고유한 것)은 악 외에 아무것도 아니며, 그 자체로 죽은 것이다 등등... 그외 다른 것들도 마찬가지입니다. The general principles of the most ancient church were heavenly and eternal truths—as that the Lord governs the universe, that all good and truth is from the Lord, that all life is from the Lord, that man’s own is nothing but evil, and in itself is dead; with many others of similar character.

 

태고 교회 사람들은 이런 진리들, 원리들을 컨펌하고 지지하는 수많은 것들, 생각들에 관한 퍼셉션을 주님으로부터 받았습니다. And they received from the Lord a perception of countless things that confirmed and supported these truths.

 

그들에게 신앙의 가장 중요한 요소는 사랑이었습니다. With them love was the principal of faith.

 

그들로 하여금 신앙에 속한 모든 것을 지각할 수 있도록 주님이 그들을 북돋워 주신 방법은 바로 사랑입니다. 앞에서 이미 말씀드린 것처럼 말입니다. (cf. AC.32:2, 202, 398) By love it was given them of the Lord to perceive whatever was of faith, and hence with them faith was love, as was said before.

 

그러나 고대 교회의 경우는 완전히 달랐습니다. 그 자세한 내용은 나중에 주님의 신적 자비, 곧 주님의 허락하심을 받고 말씀드리겠습니다. But the ancient church became entirely different, concerning which of the Lord’s Divine mercy hereafter.
