※ AC.289, 창3:20, '아담이 그의 아내의 이름을 하와라 불렀으니'(AC.287-291) - '아내, 어머니'의 속뜻

20절, 아담이 그의 아내의 이름을 하와라 불렀으니 그는 모든 산 자의 어머니가 됨이더라 And the man [homo] called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.

또 ‘아내’가 교회를, 그리고 보편적인 의미로는 천국과 지상에 있는 주님의 왕국을 의미한다는 것은 위에서 이미 보여드렸으며, 이로부터 ‘어머니’ 역시 같은 의미라는 사실이 이어집니다. 말씀에 보면, 굉장히 자주 교회를 가리켜 ‘어머니’라고 합니다. 이사야처럼 말입니다. It has also been shown above that by “wife” is meant the church, and in the universal sense the kingdom of the Lord in the heavens and on earth; and from this it follows that the same is meant by “mother.” In the Word the church is very frequently called “mother,” as in Isaiah:

나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 내가 너희의 어미를 내보낸 이혼 증서가 어디 있느냐 내가 어느 채주에게 너희를 팔았느냐 보라 너희는 너희의 죄악으로 말미암아 팔렸고 너희의 어미는 너희의 배역함으로 말미암아 내보냄을 받았느니라 (사50:1) Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement? (Isa. 50:1)

예레미야에서는 In Jeremiah:

그러므로 너희의 어머니가 큰 수치를 당하리라 너희를 낳은 자가 치욕을 당하리라 보라 그가 나라들 가운데의 마지막과 광야와 마른 땅과 거친 계곡이 될 것이며 (렘50:12) Your mother is greatly ashamed; she that bare you was suffused with shame. (Jer. 50:12)

에스겔에서는 In Ezekiel:

너는 그 남편과 자녀를 싫어한 어머니의 딸이요 너는 그 남편과 자녀를 싫어한 형의 동생이로다 네 어머니는 헷 사람이요 네 아버지는 아모리 사람이며 (겔16:45) Thou art thy mother’s daughter that loathed her man and her sons; your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite, (Ezek. 16:45)

여기 ‘남편’(man, [vir])은 주님과 천적인 모든 것을, ‘자녀’(sons)는 신앙의 진리들을, ‘헷’(a Hittite)은 거짓된 것을, ‘아모리’(an Amorite)는 악한 것을 가리킵니다. 같은 책에서 where “man” [vir] denotes the Lord and all that is celestial; “sons,” the truths of faith; a “Hittite,” what is false: and an “Amorite,” what is evil. In the same:

네 피의 어머니는 물 가에 심겨진 포도나무 같아서 물이 많으므로 열매가 많고 가지가 무성하며 (겔19:10) Thy mother is like a vine in thy likeness, planted near the waters; she was fruitful and full of leaves because of many waters. (Ezek. 19:10)

여기 ‘어머니’는 고대교회를 가리킵니다. ‘어머니’라는 말은 태고교회에 더 특별히 해당되는데요, 첫 교회였고, 천적이었던 유일한 교회였으며, 그래서 주님에게 그 어떤 다른 교회보다도 더 사랑스러웠던 교회였기 때문입니다. Here “mother” denotes the ancient church. The term “mother” is more especially applicable to the most ancient church, because it was the first church, and the only one that was celestial, and therefore beloved by the Lord more than any other.

‘아담’(man)이 태고교회인, 즉 천인을 의미한다는 것은 앞서 277번 글에서 보여드렸습니다. 그리고 동시에 주님 홀로 사람이시라는 것(AC.49)과, 주님으로 말미암아 모든 천인은 사람이라는 것, 그 이유는 주님을 닮았기(likeness) 때문(AC.50-51)이라는 것 또한 보여드렸습니다. That by “man” is meant the man of the most ancient church, or the celestial man, was previously shown; and at the same time it was also shown that the Lord alone is man, and that from him every celestial man is man, because in his likeness.

※ 49번 글에 의하면, 태고 교회 사람들은 자기들에게 ‘사람’으로 오신 주님으로 말미암아 감히 자기들을 ‘사람’이라 할 수 없었다고 합니다. 이런 경외감을 오늘을 사는 우리도 꼭 좀 다시 되살렸으면 좋겠습니다.

※ 50번, 51번 글에 의하면, 왜 주님이 자신을 가리켜 ‘인자’(The Son of Man)이라 하셨는지를, 그리고 ‘형상’(image)과 ‘모양’(likeness)의 차이를, 형상은 모양을 담는 그릇이요, 영적 인간은 천적 인간을 담는 그릇이라는 설명으로 각각 알려주고 있습니다.

이런 이유로, 예외나 차별 없이 그 교회의 모든 멤버를 가리켜 ‘사람’(a man)이라 하였고, 결국은 그 외모가 사람처럼 보이는 누구에게나 다 이 이름이 적용되어 버리고 말았습니다. 짐승과 구별한다는 이유로 말이지요. Hence every member of the church, without exception or distinction, was called a “man,” and at length this name was applied to anyone who in body appeared as a man, to distinguish him from beasts.

여기 ‘아담’(the man, 사람, [homo])은 태고교회인, 즉 천인(天人, the celestial man, 천적 인간)을, ‘아내’(the wife)와 ‘모든 산 자의 어머니’(the mother of all living)는 교회를 의미합니다. 그녀를 가리켜 ‘어머니’(mother)라 하는 이유는 첫 교회였기 때문이며, ‘산’(living)은 주님 신앙(faith in the Lord)을 소유한 결과인데, 주님은 생명 그 자체이신 분입니다. By the “man” [homo] is here meant the man of the most ancient church, or the celestial man, and by the “wife” and the “mother of all living” is meant the church. She is called “mother,” as being the first church; and “living,” in consequence of possessing faith in the Lord, who is life itself.
