AC.55, 창1:28, '하나님이 그들에게 복을 주시며 하나님이 그들에게 이르시되'

※ 태고인들(太古人, the most ancient people)은 이해와 의지, 또는 신앙과 사랑 간 결합을 결혼이라고 했는데요, 그래서 이 결혼의 결과, 태어나는 모든 선을 ‘생육’(fruitfulness), 모든 진리를 ‘번성’(multiplications)이라고 하였습니다.

 

28절, 하나님이 그들에게 복을 주시며 하나님이 그들에게 이르시되 생육하고 번성하여 땅에 충만하라, 땅을 정복하라, 바다의 물고기와 하늘의 새와 땅에 움직이는 모든 생물을 다스리라 하시니라 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over every living thing that creepeth upon the earth.

태고인들(太古人, the most ancient people)은 이해와 의지, 또는 신앙과 사랑 간 결합을 결혼이라고 했는데요, 그래서 이 결혼의 결과, 태어나는 모든 선을 ‘생육’(fruitfulness), 모든 진리를 ‘번성’(multiplications)이라고 하였습니다. As the most ancient people called the conjunction of the understanding and the will, or of faith and love, a marriage, everything of good produced from that marriage they called “fruitfulness,” and everything of truth, “multiplications.”

 

※ 실제로 천국 역시 남녀의 결혼이 있지만, 천국에서는 지상처럼 무슨 ‘아이를 낳는’ 그런 결혼이 아닌, 선과 진리가 생겨나는 전혀 다른 결혼입니다.

 

그래서 선지서들에서도 그렇게 부르는데요, 예를 들면, 에스겔입니다. Hence they are so called in the prophets, as for instance in Ezekiel:

 

11내가 너희 위에 사람과 짐승을 많게 하되 그들의 수가 많고 번성하게 할 것이라 너희 전 지위대로 사람이 거주하게 하여 너희를 처음보다 낫게 대우하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 너희가 알리라 12내가 사람을 너희 위에 다니게 하리니 그들은 내 백성 이스라엘이라 그들은 너를 얻고 너는 그 기업이 되어 다시는 그들이 자식들을 잃어버리지 않게 하리라 (겔36:11-12) I will multiply upon you man and beast, and they shall multiply and be fruitful, and I will cause you to dwell as in your ancient times, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings, and ye shall know that I am Jehovah, yea, I will cause man to walk upon you, even my people Israel. (Ezek. 36:11–12)

 

여기 ‘사람’(man)은 이스라엘이라 하는 영적 인간을, ‘전 지위’(ancient times)는 태고교회(太古, the most ancient church)를, ‘처음’(beginnings)은 홍수 후 고대교회(古代, the ancient church)를 말합니다. 먼저 진리에 속한, ‘수가 많고’(multiplication)가 언급되고, 그 다음에 선에 속한, ‘번성하게’(fruitfulness)가 언급되는 이유는, 이 구절이 이미 거듭난 사람이 아닌, 앞으로 거듭나게 될 사람을 다루고 있기 때문입니다. By “man” is here meant the spiritual man who is called Israel; by “ancient times,” the most ancient church; by “beginnings,” the ancient church after the flood. The reason why “multiplication,” which is of truth, is first mentioned, and “fruitfulness,” which is of good, afterwards, is that the passage treats of one who is to become regenerated, and not of one who is already regenerated.  

 

[2] 이해가 의지와, 또는 신앙이 사랑과 연합할 때, 주님은 이 사람을 ‘결혼한 땅’(a married land)이라 하십니다. 이사야입니다. When the understanding is united with the will, or faith with love, the man is called by the Lord “a married land,” as in Isaiah:

 

다시는 너를 버림받은 자라 부르지 아니하며 다시는 네 땅을 황무지라 부르지 아니하고 오직 너를 헵시바라 하며 네 땅을 쁄라라 하리니 이는 여호와께서 너를 기뻐하실 것이며 네 땅이 결혼한 것처럼 될 것임이라 (사62:4) Thy land shall be no more termed waste, but thou shalt be called Hephzibah [my delight is in her], and thy land Beulah [married], for Jehovah delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. (Isa. 62:4)

 

이때 열리는 열매들이 진리에 속하였으면 ‘아들들’(sons)이라 하고, 선에 속하였으면 ‘딸들’(daughters)이라 합니다. 이런 표현은 말씀에 아주 자주 나옵니다. The fruits thence issuing, which are of truth, are called “sons,” and those which are of good are called “daughters,” and this very frequently in the Word.  

 

※ 그래서 저는 제 아내와 두 아들, 그리고 며느리와 손녀, 더 나아가 형제와 처가, 사돈 및 친구, 친지 등을 주님의 선과 진리로 이해하려고 노력하고 있습니다. 이렇게 하니 점점 핏줄에 대한 무슨 집착(?) 같은 것을 내려놓게 되면서, 이들을 주께 맡기기가 한결 쉬워지고 있습니다.

 

누구든지 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 하는 자가 내 형제요 자매요 어머니이니라 (마12:50)

 

하신 주님의 이 말씀이 점점 더 이해가 되고 있습니다.  

 

[3] 진리와 선이 많아졌을 때, 땅은 ‘충만한’(replenished) 상태, 가득 채워진 상태가 됩니다. 주께서 사람에게 복을 주시며 말씀하실 때, 즉 사람을 돌보실 때는 선과 진리가 어마어마하게 증가하기 때문입니다. 마태복음에서 말씀하신 것처럼 말입니다. The earth is “replenished,” or filled, when there are many truths and goods; for when the Lord blesses and speaks to man, that is, works upon him, there is an immense increase of good and truth, as the Lord says in Matthew:

 

31또 비유를 들어 이르시되 천국은 마치 사람이 자기 밭에 갖다 심은 겨자씨 한 알 같으니32이는 모든 씨보다 작은 것이로되 자란 후에는 풀보다 커서 나무가 되매 공중의 새들이 와서 그 가지에 깃들이느니라 (마13:31-32) The kingdom of the heavens is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all seeds, but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heavens come and build their nests in the branches thereof. (Matt. 13:31–32)

 

‘겨자씨 한 알’(A grain of mustard seed)은 사람이 영적인 사람이 되기 전에 갖고 있던 선을 말하는데, 이것은 ‘모든 씨보다 작은 것’(the least of all seeds)입니다. 그 이유는, 그때는 그가 자기 스스로 그 선을 행하는 줄로 알기 때문입니다. 무엇이든 사람의 것은 악 외에 아무것도 아니기 때문입니다. 그러던 그가 거듭남의 어떤 상태 가운데 있게 되면서 그의 안에 뭔가 선한 게 생깁니다. 그러나 그것은 아직 모든 것 중에서 가장 작습니다. A “grain of mustard seed” is man’s good before he becomes spiritual, which is “the least of all seeds,” because he thinks that he does good of himself, and what is of himself is nothing but evil. But as he is in a state of regeneration, there is something of good in him, but it is the least of all.  

 

[4] 결국 신앙이 사랑과 결합함으로써 점점 자라 ‘풀’(herb)이 되더니, 마침내 결합이 완성되면서 ‘나무’(a tree)가 되어, ‘공중의 새들’(the birds of the heavens)이 ‘그 가지에 깃들게’(build their nests in its branches)됩니다. ‘공중의 새들’은 진리들이나 지적인 것들을, ‘그 가지에 깃들게’는 기억-지식들을 의미합니다. 사람이 영적일 때뿐 아니라 영적인 사람이 되는 동안은 그는 일종의 전투 상태에 있는 것이며, 그래서 이르시기를, ‘땅을 정복하라 모든 생물을 다스리라’(subdue the earth and have dominion)하신 것입니다. At length as faith is joined with love it grows larger, and becomes an “herb”; and lastly, when the conjunction is completed, it becomes a “tree,” and then the “birds of the heavens” (in this passage also denoting truths, or things intellectual) “build their nests in its branches,” which are memory-knowledges. When man is spiritual, as well as during the time of his becoming spiritual, he is in a state of combat, and therefore it is said, “subdue the earth and have dominion.”
