사람은 속 사람, 또는 같은 말이지만, 지성이 있고 지혜로운 사람을 의미한다는 것은 이사야를 보면 분명합니다. That man signifies the internal man, or what is the same, one who is intelligent and wise, is plain from Isaiah:

내가 본즉 한 사람도 없으며 내가 물어도 그들 가운데에 한 말도 대답할 조언자가 없도다 (사41:28) I behold, and there is no man [vir], even among them, and there is no counselor, (Isa. 41:28)

지혜롭고 지성적인 사람이 아무도 없다는 뜻이지요. 예레미야에서도 볼 수 있습니다. meaning none wise and intelligent. Also in Jeremiah:

너희는 예루살렘 거리로 빨리 다니며 그 넓은 거리에서 찾아보고 알라 너희가 만일 정의를 행하며 진리를 구하는 자를 한 사람이라도 찾으면 내가 이 성읍을 용서하리라 (렘5:1) Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see if ye can find a man, if there be any executing judgment, seeking the truth. (Jer. 5:1)

‘정의를 행하는 자’(One who executes judgment)는 지혜로운 사람을, ‘진리를 구하는 자’(one who seeks the truth)는 지성이 있는 사람을 의미합니다. “One who executes judgment” means a wise person; and “one who seeks the truth,” an intelligent one.

‘뼈 중의 뼈요 살 중의 살’(bone of bones and flesh of flesh)이 그 안에 속 사람이 있는 겉 사람의 오운(own)을 의미하였으므로, 그래서 고대에는 자신들의 오운이라 할 수 있는 사람들은 모두 ‘뼈 중의 뼈요 살 중의 살’이라고 했는데요, 그게 한 가족이든, 같은 가계든, 기타 어느 정도의 연(緣)이든 말이지요. 그래서 라반도 야곱을 이렇게 말한 것입니다. Inasmuch as “bone of bones and flesh of flesh” signified the own of the external man in which was the internal, therefore in ancient times all those were called “bone of bones and flesh of flesh” who could be called their own [proprii], and were of one house, or of one family, or in any degree of relationship. Thus Laban said of Jacob,

라반이 이르되 너는 참으로 내 혈육이로다 하였더라 야곱이 한 달을 그와 함께 거주하더니 (창29:14) Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. (Gen. 29:14)

그리고 아비멜렉 또한 자기 어머니쪽 사람들과 외척(外戚)에게 다음과 같이 말했습니다. And Abimelech said of his mother’s brethren, and of the family of the house of his mother’s father,

청하노니 너희는 세겜의 모든 사람들의 귀에 말하라 여룹바알의 아들 칠십 명이 다 너희를 다스림과 한 사람이 너희를 다스림이 어느 것이 너희에게 나으냐 또 나는 너희와 골육임을 기억하라 하니 (삿9:2) Remember that I am your bone and your flesh. (Judges 9:2)

이스라엘 지파들도 다윗에게 자신들을 이렇게 말했습니다, The tribes of Israel also said of themselves to David,

이스라엘 모든 지파가 헤브론에 이르러 다윗에게 나아와 이르되 보소서 우리는 왕의 한 골육이니이다 (삼하5:1) Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. (2 Sam. 5:1)

‘뼈 중의 뼈요 살 중의 살’(Bone of bones and flesh of flesh)은 겉 사람의 오운을 말하는데, 여기서 ‘뼈’(bone)는 이 본성이 생기가 거의 없음을, ‘살’(flesh)은 생생해진 오운을 의미합니다. 나아가 남자는 속 사람을 의미하며, 이어지는 구절에 서술된 대로, 이 속 사람은 겉 사람과 결합하기 때문에, 앞서 ‘여자’(woman)라고 했던 오운을 여기서는 ‘아내’(wife)라고 이름하는 것입니다. ‘이제’(Now)는 이 시점에서 이렇게 되었음을 말하는데요, 상태가 바뀌었기 때문입니다. “Bone of bones and flesh of flesh” signify the own of the external man; “bone,” this own not so much vivified, and “flesh,” the own that is vivified. Man, moreover, signifies the internal man, and from his being so coupled with the external man as is stated in the subsequent verse, the own which was before called “woman” is here denominated “wife.” “Now” signifies that it was thus effected at this time because the state was changed.

이러므로 남자가 부모를 떠나 그의 아내와 합하여 둘이 한 몸을 이룰지로다 (창2:24)
