※ ‘상처’와 ‘상함’의 속뜻, 더이상 온전한 것이 없음

23절, 라멕이 아내들에게 이르되 아다와 씰라여 내 목소리를 들으라 라멕의 아내들이여 내 말을 들으라 나의 상처로 말미암아 내가 사람을 죽였고 나의 상함으로 말미암아 소년을 죽였도다 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech, and with your ears perceive my speech, for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a little one to my hurt.

‘상처’와 ‘상함’은 더이상 온전한 것이 없음을 의미하는데, ‘상처’로는 신앙이 황량해졌음을, ‘상함’으로는 체어리티가 황폐해졌음을 의미함이 분명한 것은 ‘상처’는 사람에게, ‘상함’은 소년에게 속한 것으로 서술되고 있는 걸 보면 그렇습니다. 신앙의 황량함 및 체어리티의 황폐함을 이사야에 보면 같은 말로 묘사하고 있습니다. That by a “wound” and a “bruise” is signified that there was soundness no longer, by a “wound” that faith was desolated, and by a “bruise” that charity was devastated is evident from the fact that “wound” is predicated of a “man,” and “bruise” of a “little one.” The desolation of faith and the vastation of charity are described in the same terms in Isaiah:

발바닥에서 머리까지 성한 곳이 없이 상한 것과 터진 것과 새로 맞은 흔적뿐이거늘 그것을 짜며 싸매며 기름으로 부드럽게 함을 받지 못하였도다 (사1:6) From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wound and bruise and a fresh sore they have not been pressed out, neither bound up, neither mollified with oil. (Isa. 1:6)

이 구절에서, ‘상한 것’은 황량해진 신앙으로, ‘터진 것’은 황폐해진 체어리티로, ‘새로 맞은’은 둘 다로 서술되고 있습니다. In this passage “wound” is predicated of faith desolated, “bruise” of charity devastated, and “sore” of both.

앞서 살핀 대로(cf. 405, 406), ‘라멕’은 황폐함(vastation)을 의미합니다. ‘라멕이 아내들에게 이르되 아다와 씰라여 내 말을 들으라’는 죄에 대한 자백을 의미하는데, 이것은 교회라는 게 있는 데서만 할 수 있는 것이며, 지금까지 말씀드린 대로(cf. 409), 라멕의 ‘아내들’이 의미하는 게 바로 이 교회입니다. ‘나의 상처로 말미암아 내가 사람을 죽였고’는 그가 신앙을 소멸시켰음을 의미하는데, 여기 ‘사람’은 신앙을(cf. 340, 367:1) 의미하기 때문입니다. ‘나의 상함으로 말미암아 소년을’은 그가 체어리티를 소멸시켰음을 의미합니다. ‘상처’와 ‘상함’은 더이상 온전한 것이 없음을 의미하는데, 여기 ‘상처’는 신앙이 황량해졌음을, ‘상함’은 체어리티가 황폐해졌음을 의미합니다. By “Lamech” is signified vastation, as before; that he “said unto his wives Adah and Zillah, With your ears perceive my speech” signifies confession, which can only be made where there is a church, which, as has been said, is signified by his “wives.” “I have slain a man to my wounding” signifies that he had extinguished faith, for by a “man” is signified faith; “a little one to my hurt” signifies that he had extinguished charity. By a “wound” and a “bruise” is signified that there was no more soundness; by a “wound,” that faith was desolated; by a “hurt,” that charity was devastated.
