8절, 여호와 하나님이 동방의 에덴에 동산을 창설하시고 그 지으신 사람을 거기 두시니라 And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

영적 인간의  생명, 혹은 생명의 질서(Life, or the order of life)는 다음과 같은데요, 비록 주님이 그의 신앙을 통해(through faith) 그의 이해, 이성 및 기억(his understanding, reason, and memory [in ejus intellectualia, rationalia, et scientifica]) 가운데로 유입 중이심에도 불구, 아직 그의 겉 사람은 속 사람과 싸우고 있기 때문에, 얼핏 보면 지성이 주님으로부터가 아닌, 마치 그 자신으로부터 기억과 이성(memory and reason [per scientifica et rationalia])에 속한 것들을 통해 유입되는 것처럼 보입니다. 그러나 천적 인간의 생명, 혹은 생명의 질서는 다음과 같습니다. 주님은 사랑과 사랑의 신앙을 통해(through love and the faith of love) 그의 이해, 이성, 기억 안으로 유입하시며, 이 경우, 그의 안에서 속 사람과 겉 사람간 아무 분쟁이 없는데, 그는 이것이 정말 그렇다는 걸 지각합니다. 그래서 영적 인간의 경우에는 바로 이 순간까지 그 순서가 거꾸로였던 질서가 이제 이 천적 인간과 더불어서는 회복되었다 하는 것이며, 이때 이 질서, 곧 올바른 순서로 회복된 이 천적 인간을 가리켜 '동방의 에덴 동산'(a garden in Eden in the east)이라고 하는 것입니다. ‘여호와 하나님이 동방의 에덴에 창설하신 동산’(the garden planted by Jehovah God in Eden in the east)은 가장 높은 뜻으로는 주님 자신을, 가장 내적인 뜻으로는, 이는 또한 범우주적인 뜻인데요, 주님의 나라와 천국, 곧 그가 천적 인간이 되었을 때 있게 될 천국을 말합니다. 이때 그의 상태는 그 자신 천국 천사들하고 같이 있는 상태이며, 마치 그들 가운데 있는 것과 같은 상태입니다. 이것이 가능한 이유는, 인간은 세상에 있으면서 동시에 천국에도 있을 수 있도록 창조되었기 때문이지요. 이 상태, 곧 천적 인간의 상태에서는 그의 모든 사고와 관념들(ideas of thoughts), 그리고 그의 말과 행동들까지 모두 열려 있되 심지어 주님으로부터 열려 있으며, 그 모든 것 안에 천적이고 영적인 것이 들어 있는데요, 그 이유는 그 하나하나 다 그 안에 주님의 생명이 들어있기 때문입니다. 이 주님의 생명이 그로 하여금 퍼셉션(perception)을 갖게 하는 것입니다. Life, or the order of life, with the spiritual man, is such that although the Lord flows in, through faith, into the things of his understanding, reason, and memory [in ejus intellectualia, rationalia, et scientifica], yet as his external man fights against his internal man, it appears as if intelligence did not flow in from the Lord, but from the man himself, through the things of memory and reason [per scientifica et rationalia]. But the life, or order of life, of the celestial man, is such that the Lord flows in through love and the faith of love into the things of his understanding, reason, and memory, and as there is no combat between the internal and the external man, he perceives that this is really so. Thus the order which up to this point had been inverted with the spiritual man is now described as restored with the celestial man, and this order, or man, is called a “garden in Eden in the east.” In the supreme sense, the “garden planted by Jehovah God in Eden in the east” is the Lord himself. In the inmost sense, which is also the universal sense, it is the Lord’s kingdom, and the heaven in which man is placed when he has become celestial. His state then is such that he is with the angels in heaven, and is as it were one among them; for man has been so created that while living in this world he may at the same time be in heaven. In this state all his thoughts and ideas of thoughts, and even his words and actions, are open, even from the Lord, and contain within them what is celestial and spiritual; for each one [of these] has the Lord’s life within it, which enables him to have perception.
