8절, 여호와 하나님이 동방의 에덴에 동산을 창설하시고 그 지으신 사람을 거기 두시니라 And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

‘동산’(a garden)은 지성(intelligence)을, ‘에덴’(Eden)은 사랑을, ‘동방’(the east)은 주님에 대한 상징이며, 그 결과 ‘동방의 에덴동산’(the garden of Eden eastward)은 천적 인간의 지성(the intelligence of the celestial man), 즉 주님으로부터 사랑을 통해 흘러들어오는 지성을 말합니다. By a “garden” is signified intelligence; by “Eden,” love; by the “east,” the Lord; consequently by the “garden of Eden eastward” is signified the intelligence of the celestial man, which flows in from the Lord through love.
