8절, 그들이 그날 바람이 불 때 동산에 거니시는 여호와 하나님의 소리를 듣고 아담과 그의 아내가 여호와 하나님의 낯을 피하여 동산 나무 사이에 숨은지라 And they heard the voice of Jehovah God going to itself in the garden in the air of the day; and the man and his wife hid themselves from the face of Jehovah God in the midst of the tree of the garden.

‘거니시는 소리’(the voice going to itself)는 남아 있는 퍼셉션이 거의 없음을, 말하자면 마치 그 소리 말고는 아무 소리도 안 들리는 듯한 상태를 의미합니다. 다음 절, ‘여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며’(Jehovah called to the man)라는 데를 보면 뚜렷한 것처럼 말입니다. By the “voice going to itself,” is meant that there was but little perception remaining, and that alone as it were by itself and unheard, as is manifest also from the following verse where it is said, “Jehovah called to the man.”
※ ‘아담을 부르시며’의 ‘부르시며’는 ‘shouted’에 가까운 ‘called’입니다. 사람이 자기 오운에 깊이 잠긴 상태를 ‘깊이 잠들게 하시매’라 표현하신 것처럼 말입니다. 죄를 지었으나 양심의 소리가 들리는 사람한테는 이런 소리가 천둥 번개 소리처럼 들릴 겁니다.
그래서 이사야에서 So in Isaiah:
3외치는 자의 소리여 이르되 너희는 광야에서 여호와의 길을 예비하라 사막에서 우리 하나님의 대로를 평탄하게 하라, 6말하는 자의 소리여 이르되 외치라 대답하되 내가 무엇이라 외치리이까 하니 이르되 모든 육체는 풀이요 그의 모든 아름다움은 들의 꽃과 같으니 (사40:3, 6) The voice of one crying in the wilderness; the voice said, Cry. (Isa. 40:3, 6)
‘광야’(The wilderness)는 신앙이라는 게 전혀 남아 있지 않은 교회입니다. ‘외치는 자의 소리’(the voice of one crying)는 주님의 오심에 대한 수태고지(受胎告知, the annunciation of the Lord’s advent), 곧 일반적으로는 주님의 오심에 대한 모든 소식입니다. 거듭난 사람들, 그리고 그 안에 내적 딕테이트가 있는 사람들한테 일어나는 것처럼 말입니다. The “wilderness” is a church where there is no faith; the “voice of one crying” is the annunciation of the Lord’s advent, and in general every announcement of his coming, as with the regenerate, with whom there is an internal dictate.
