라멕이 아내들에게 이르되 아다와 씰라여 내 목소리를 들으라 라멕의 아내들이여 내 말을 들으라 나의 상처로 말미암아 내가 사람을 죽였고 나의 상함으로 말미암아 소년을 죽였도다 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech, and with your ears perceive my speech, for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a little one to my hurt. (창4:23)
428. 이 본문과 다음 절을 볼 때 아주 분명한 것은, ‘라멕’은 황폐함을 상징한다는 것입니다. 그가 ‘내가 사람을 죽였다’, ‘내가 소년을 죽였다’ 하고 있고, 또 가인의 경우는 일곱 배이지만, 라멕의 경우는 ‘일흔일곱 배’이기 때문입니다. From the contents of this and the following verse, it is very evident that by “Lamech” is signified vastation; for he says that he had “slain a man,” and a “little child,” and that Cain should be avenged sevenfold, and Lamech “seventy and sevenfold.”
429. ‘사람’이 신앙에 관한 상징인 것은 본 장 1절, 하와가 가인을 낳고 한 말, ‘내가 여호와로 말미암아 득남하였다’를 보면 알 수 있습니다. (아래 문장에 더 충실한 번역은, ‘내가 여호와라는 사람을 얻었다’입니다.), 이 ‘사람’은 ‘여호와라는 사람’, 곧 신앙의 교리를 의미합니다. (cf. 340) That by a “man” [vir] is signified faith is evident from the first verse of this chapter, in that Eve said, when she bare Cain, “I have gotten a man, Jehovah”; by whom was meant the doctrine of faith, called “a man, Jehovah.”
이런 사실은 또 훨씬 앞서 다룬 (cf. 158, 265), 남자, 여자에 관한 내용을 봐도 확실합니다. 거기서 남자는 지적 능력을 상징합니다. 지적 능력은 신앙과 연결되기 때문입니다. It is evident also from what was shown above concerning a man or male, that he signifies understanding, which is of faith.
