그들이 창조되던 날, 그들을 ‘사람’이라고 불렀다는 사실 역시 1장, 즉 여섯째 날 끝에 나오는데요, 이것은 안식일 저녁과 상응하거나 안식일이나 일곱째 날이 시작된 때에 상응합니다, 위에서(AC.85-87) 보여드린 대로 일곱째 날, 즉 안식일은 천적 인간이기 때문입니다. That they were called “man” in the day that they were created, appears also from the first chapter (Gen.1:26–27), that is, at the end of the sixth day, which answers to the evening of the sabbath, or when the sabbath or seventh day began; for the seventh day, or sabbath, is the celestial man, as was shown above.

‘이름 부르기’나 ‘이름으로 불리기’는 말씀에서는 위에서(AC.144, 145) 보여드린 것처럼 관련 대상의 퀄리티, 즉 그 대상의 어떠함에 관해 아는 것을 의미하는데, 이 경우에는 태고교회의 퀄리티, 즉 태고교회는 사람이 흙, 여기 ‘아담’이라는 말이 ‘흙’(ground)을 의미하는데, 흙에서 취함을 입고, 즉 주님으로 말미암아 거듭나는 교회이며, 그리고 나중에 그가 천적으로 만들어지면서, 주님 사랑에서 비롯되는 신앙으로 가장 놀랍게 ‘사람’이 되는 그런 교회입니다. By “calling a name,” or “calling by name,” is signified in the Word to know the quality of things, as was shown above, and in the present case it has relation to the quality of the most ancient church, denoting that man was taken from the ground, or regenerated by the Lord, for the word “Adam” means “ground”; and that afterwards when he was made celestial he became most eminently “man,” by virtue of faith originating in love to the Lord.

그를 ‘아담’(Adam)이라고 하는 이유는 히브리어 ‘아담’이 ‘사람’(man)이기 때문입니다. 그런데 그를 ‘아담’이라고 하는 건 정말 아니고, 대신 ‘사람’이 맞는데요, 이것은 이 구절과 앞에 나온 구절들을 보면 분명합니다. 몇몇 케이스에서 그는 단수가 아닌 복수로 거론된다는 점에서 그렇고, 또 이 용어는 남자와 여자 둘 다를 ‘사람’이라고 할 때 쓰는 용어라는 점에서도 그렇습니다. 누구나 말씀을 보면 알 수 있는 것은, 이것은 둘 다를 가리킨다는 것입니다. 다음과 같은 말씀들 때문인데요, ‘그들이 창조되던 날에 하나님이 그들의 이름을 사람이라 일컬으셨더라’(창5:2)와, 1장에서도 같은 방식인데, ‘우리의 형상을 따라 우리가 사람을 만들고 그들로 바다의 물고기를 다스리게 하자’(창1:26, 27, 28) 하셨기 때문입니다. 이런 이유로, 지금 다루고 있는 주제가 인류 최초의 사람이었던 어떤 한 사람의 창조가 아닌, 태고교회라는 사실 또한 보이실 수도 있습니다. The reason why he is called “Adam” is that the Hebrew word “Adam” signifies “man”; but that he is never properly called “Adam” by name, but “man,” is very evident from this passage and also from former ones, in that [in some cases] he is not spoken of in the singular number, but in the plural, and also from the fact that the term is predicated of both the man and the woman, both together being called “man.” That it is predicated of both, everyone may see from the words, for it is said, “He called their name man, in the day that they were created”; and in like manner in the first chapter: “Let us make man in our image, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea.” (Gen. 1:26) Hence also it may appear that the subject treated of is not the creation of some one man who was the first of mankind, but the most ancient church.
