※ AC.228, 창3:9-10, '여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며'(AC.226-228) - 천사들의 퍼셉션과 인간의 머릿속에서 떠오르는 생각의 정체

9-10절, 9여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며 그에게 이르시되 네가 어디 있느냐 10이르되 내가 동산에서 하나님의 소리를 듣고 내가 벗었으므로 두려워하여 숨었나이다 And Jehovah God cried unto the man [homo], and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

천사들에게는 말로 어떻게 설명이 안 되는 정말 차원이 다른 정교한 퍼셉션(perception)이 있는데요, 천사들은 이걸로 신앙의 진리와 사랑의 선에 반대되는 어떤 것이 천사들의 입장을 허락하는지 아닌지를 발견합니다. It is impossible to describe the exquisite perception whereby the angels discover whether anything gains admission that is contrary to the truth of faith and the good of love.

※ 천사들은 내적 존재여서 사람의 생각 안으로 들어올 수도, 나갈 수도 있습니다. 그들의 출입 기준은 신앙의 진리와 사랑의 선이어서 이에 부합하면 들어오고, 반대되면 들어오지 않습니다. 우리와 달리 천사들은 이 선과 진리에 대한 지각이 수천 배나 뛰어납니다.

※ 각 사람에겐 최소 두 명의 천사와 악한 영들이 와 있습니다. 천사들은 그 사람의 선과 진리의 기억 속으로, 악한 영들은 그 사람의 악과 거짓의 기억 속으로 들어갑니다. 천사 둘, 악령 둘인 이유는 사람이 의지와 이해로 되어 있기 때문인데, 사람의 의지에 해당하는 천적 천국에서 한 명, 사람의 이해에 해당하는 영적 천국에서 한 명이 오기 때문이며, 악령도 마찬가지, 서로 대칭이 되는 지옥에서 하나씩 오기 때문입니다.

천사들은 입장하는 것의 퀄리티와 언제 입장하는지에 대해 그런 것에 관해서는 거의 아는 게 없는 사람이 스스로 하는 것 보다 수천 배나 더 완벽하게 지각합니다. 사람 안의 가장 작은 생각조차도 천사들한테는 더욱 풀로 지각되는데요, 사람이 스스로 할 수 있는 가장 그레이트한 것보다도 더 말이지요. 이런 얘기는 정말 믿어지지 않으시겠지만 백 프로 사실입니다. They perceive the quality of what enters, and when it enters, a thousand times more perfectly than the man himself, who scarcely knows anything about it. The least of thought in a man is more fully perceived by the angels than the greatest is by himself. This is indeed incredible, yet is most true.

퍼셉션, 내적 딕테이트 및 양심(perception, internal dictate, and conscience)의 기원에 대해 많은 사람이 알아야 함에도, 오늘날 상황은 전혀 그게 아니기 때문에, 제가(Swedenborg, 스베덴보리, 1688-1772) 이 주제에 관한 말씀을 좀 드릴까 합니다. 정말 엄청난 사실은 사람은 누구든, 심지어 그가 악인이든 선인이든 영들과 천사들을 통해 주님의 다스리심 아래 있다는 것입니다. 사람 안에서 그에게 와있는 악한 영들의 지배가 시작되면, 역시 그에게 와있는 천사들은 악과 거짓들을 막느라 애를 쓰는데요, 그렇게 해서 하나의 전투가 시작됩니다. 사람이 퍼셉션, 내적 딕테이트 및 양심에 의해 예리해져 가는 건 바로 이 전투를 통해서입니다. 이것과 또 시험을 통해 인간은 영들과 천사들이 자기와 함께 한다는 사실을 아주 확실히 알 수 있습니다. 그가 육체의 일에 아주 깊이 잠겨 영들과 천사들에 관한 걸 전혀 믿지 않는 그런 사람만 아니라면 말입니다. 그런 사람들은 심지어 이런 영적 전투를 수백 번 느껴도 여전히 말하기를, 그런 건 다 상상이며, 마음이 어수선해서 일어나는 일이라고 말입니다. 저는 허락하심을 받아 이런 영적 전투를 수천수만 번 느낄 수 있었고, 아주 생생하게 감지할 수도 있었습니다. 이런 일은 거의 수년 동안이나 지속되었지요. 뿐만 아니라 이런 전투를 일으키는 그들이 누구며, 무슨 일을, 그리고 어디 출신인지, 그들이 올 때와 떠날 때 등도 마찬가지로 느끼고 감지할 수 있었습니다. 저는 지금도 그들과 대화하고 있습니다. As it is desirable that the origin of perception, internal dictate, and conscience, should be known, and as at the present day it is altogether unknown, I may relate something on the subject. It is a great truth that man is governed by the Lord by means of spirits and angels. When evil spirits begin to rule, the angels labor to avert evils and falsities, and hence arises a combat. It is this combat of which the man is rendered sensible by perception, dictate, and conscience. By these, and also by temptations, a man might clearly see that spirits and angels are with him, were he not so deeply immersed in corporeal things as to believe nothing that is said about spirits and angels. Such persons, even if they were to feel these combats hundreds of times, would still say that they are imaginary, and the effect of a disordered mind. I have been permitted to feel such combats, and to have a vivid sense of them, thousands and thousands of times, and this almost constantly for several years, as well as to know who, what, and where they were that caused them, when they came, and when they departed; and I have conversed with them.

‘부르시며’(crying), ‘동산에서 나는 소리’(the voice in the garden), ‘내가 벗었으므로 두려워하여’(their being afraid because they were naked), ‘숨었나이다’(hiding themselves)의 의미는 앞에서 지금까지 설명한 것입니다. 사람이 네가 어디 있느냐, 너는 무엇을 하고 있느냐 먼저 질문 받는 건 말씀에서 흔한 일입니다. 주님은 이미 다 아시면서 말이지요. 그러시는 이유는, 그러면 그가 혹시 시인하고 자백할까 해서입니다. The meaning of “crying,” of the “voice in the garden,” of their “being afraid because they were naked,” and of “hiding themselves” has been previously explained. It is common in the Word for man to be first asked where he is and what he is doing, although the Lord previously knew all things; but the reason for asking is that man may acknowledge and confess.
