※ AC.150, 창2:21, '여호와 하나님이 아담을 깊이 잠들게 하시니'(AC.147-150) - '깊은 잠'

21절, 여호와 하나님이 아담을 깊이 잠들게 하시니 잠들매 그가 그 갈빗대 하나를 취하고 살로 대신 채우시고 And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in the place thereof.

사람이 자신의 오운 가운데 있거나, 가정하기를 나는 내 힘으로 살아가고 있는 거야 하는 상태를 ‘깊은 잠’(deep sleep)에 비유하는데, 실제로 고대인들은 그런 상태를 깊이 잠든 상태라고 했습니다. 말씀에서도 ‘깊이 잠들게 하는 영을 너희에게 부어 주사’라고 하셨고, 그들이 잠들었다고 하셨습니다. The state of man when in his own, or when he supposes that he lives from himself, is compared to “deep sleep,” and indeed by the ancients was called deep sleep; and in the Word it is said of such that they have “poured out upon them the spirit of deep sleep” (Isa. 29:10), and that they sleep a sleep (Jer. 51:57).

대저 여호와께서 깊이 잠들게 하는 영을 너희에게 부어 주사 너희의 눈을 감기셨음이니 그가 선지자들과 너희의 지도자인 선견자들을 덮으셨음이라 (사29:10)

만군의 여호와라 일컫는 왕이 이와 같이 말씀하시되 내가 그 고관들과 지혜 있는 자들과 도백들과 태수들과 용사들을 취하게 하리니 그들이 영원히 잠들어 깨어나지 못하리라 (렘51:57)

사람의 오운은 그 자체로 죽은 거라는 사실과, 아무도 자기 자신으로부터는 그 어떤 생명도 얻지 못한다는 사실을 영들의 세계에서 저는 그동안 매우 분명하게 보아오고 있는데요, 오직 자신들의 오운만 사랑하며, 자신들은 스스로의 힘으로 살아간다 완강하게 고집부리는 악한 영들은, 그러나 실제로 겪어보고 나서야 그게 아니었다고, 인정하긴 싫지만 할 수 없이 억지로 고백하는 것이었습니다. 수 년 간 저는 주님의 허락으로 사람의 오운의 경우는 어떻게 되는지를 어떤 특별한 방식으로 알 수 있었습니다. 그리고 제게 다음과 같은 사실들을 지각하는 것 또한 허락되었는데요, 그것은 저 스스로는 어떤 것도 생각할 수 없다는 사실과, 모든 생각의 실마리가 외부에서 제 안으로 흘러들어 온다는 사실, 그리고 종종 그것이 어떻게, 그리고 언제 흘러들어 오는지를 제가 지각할 수 있었다는 사실들입니다. 그러므로 사람은 자기 힘으로 사는 거야 하는 사람은 거짓 가운데 있는 것이며, 그렇게 믿음으로써 그는 스스로에게 악하고 거짓된 모든 것을 허용하는 것입니다. 이것은 만일 그의 믿음이 참된 진리의 경우였다면 결코 그러지 않았을 그런 것이지요. That man’s own is in itself dead, and that no one has any life from himself, has been shown so clearly in the world of spirits, that evil spirits who love nothing but their own, and obstinately insist that they live from themselves, were convinced by sensible experience, and were forced to confess that they do not live from themselves. For a number of years I have been permitted in an especial manner to know how the case is with what is man’s own, and it has been granted to me to perceive clearly that I could think nothing from myself, but that every idea of thought flows in, and sometimes I could perceive how and whence it flowed in. The man who supposes that he lives from himself is therefore in what is false, and by believing that he lives from himself appropriates to himself everything evil and false, which he would never do if his belief were in accordance with the real truth of the case.

말씀에서도 사람의 오운은 ‘뼈’(bones)로 상징되며, 실제로 주님에 의해 생생해진 오운을 의미합니다. 이사야입니다. In the Word also, man’s own is signified by “bones,” and indeed an own vivified by the Lord, as in Isaiah:

여호와가 너를 항상 인도하여 메마른 곳에서도 네 영혼을 만족하게 하며 네 뼈를 견고하게 하리니 너는 물 댄 동산 같겠고 물이 끊어지지 아니하는 샘 같을 것이라 (사58:11) Jehovah shall satisfy thy soul in droughts, and make thy bones alert, and thou shalt be like a watered garden. (Isa. 58:11)

너희가 이를 보고 마음이 기뻐서 너희 뼈가 연한 풀의 무성함 같으리라 여호와의 손은 그의 종들에게 나타나겠고 그의 진노는 그의 원수에게 더하리라 (사66:14) Then shall ye see, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall sprout as the blade. (Isa. 66:14)

시편입니다. In David:

내 모든 뼈가 이르기를 여호와와 같은 이가 누구냐 그는 가난한 자를 그보다 강한 자에게서 건지시고 가난하고 궁핍한 자를 노략하는 자에게서 건지시는 이라 하리로다 (시35:10) All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee? (Ps. 35:10)

이는 에스겔에서 더욱 분명한데요, 거기 뼈들에 대해 ‘살을 입히고’, ‘생기를 너희에게 들어가게 하리니’ 하시는 부분입니다. This is still more evident from Ezekiel, where he speaks of bones receiving flesh, and having spirit put into them:

1여호와께서 권능으로 내게 임재하시고 그의 영으로 나를 데리고 가서 골짜기 가운데 두셨는데 거기 뼈가 가득하더라, 4또 내게 이르시되 너는 이 모든 뼈에게 대언하여 이르기를 너희 마른 뼈들아 여호와의 말씀을 들을지어다 5주 여호와께서 이 뼈들에게 이같이 말씀하시기를 내가 생기를 너희에게 들어가게 하리니 너희가 살아나리라 6너희 위에 힘줄을 두고 살을 입히고 가죽으로 덮고 너희 속에 생기를 넣으리니 너희가 살아나리라 또 내가 여호와인 줄 너희가 알리라 하셨다 하라 (겔37:1, 4-6) The hand of Jehovah set me in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones; and he said to me, prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of Jehovah; thus saith the Lord Jehovih to these bones, Behold, I bring breath [spiritus] into you, and ye shall live, and I will lay sinews upon you, and will make flesh come upon you, and cover you with skin, and I will put breath in you, and ye shall live, and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. (Ezek. 37:1, 4–6)

[2] 사람의 오운은 천국에서 보았을 때는 뭔가 완전히 뼈 같은, 못 움직이며, 매우 추한, 그래서 결과적으로는 그 자체로 죽은 걸로 나타나지만, 그러나 주님에 의해 생기를 얻으면, 그때는 살처럼 나타나는 어떤 겁니다. 사람의 오운은 본인에게는 어떤 모든 걸로 보이겠지만, 그러나 실제로는 단지 죽은 상태 가운데 있는 뭔가에 불과하기 때문입니다. 그의 안에 살아 있는 게 무엇이든 그건 모두 주님의 생명에서 나오는 것이며, 만일 이 생명이 사라지면 그는 쓰러져 죽은 상태, 마치 돌 같은 상태가 되고 말기 때문입니다. 사람은 단지 생명의 기관, 오르간(organ)일 뿐이기 때문입니다. 이런 게 오르간이고, 이런 게 생명의 애정입니다. 주님만이 자신의 오운이라는 걸 가지십니다. 이 오운으로 인간을 구속하셨고, 이 오운으로 그를 구원하십니다. 주님의 오운은 생명이시며, 이 주님의 오운으로부터 인간의 오운이 말미암는 겁니다. 인간의 오운은 그 자체로는 죽은 거지만, 주님의 오운으로 살아납니다. 누가복음의 다음 주님의 말씀 또한 주님의 오운을 의미합니다. The own of man, when viewed from heaven, appears like a something that is wholly bony, inanimate, and very ugly, consequently as being in itself dead, but when vivified by the Lord it looks like flesh. For man’s own is a mere dead thing, although to him it appears as something, indeed as everything. Whatever lives in him is from the Lord’s life, and if this were withdrawn he would fall down as dead as a stone; for man is only an organ of life, and such as is the organ, such is the life’s affection. The Lord alone has what is his own; by this own he redeemed man, and by this own he saves him. The Lord’s own is life, and from his own, man’s own, which in itself is dead, is made alive. The Lord’s own is also signified by the Lord’s words in Luke:

내 손과 발을 보고 나인 줄 알라 또 나를 만져 보라 영은 살과 뼈가 없으되 너희 보는 바와 같이 나는 있느니라 (눅24:39) A spirit hath not flesh and bones as ye see me have. (Luke 24:39)

이는 다음 말씀의 의미이기도 합니다. It was also meant by not a bone of the paschal lamb being broken (Exod. 12:46).

한 집에서 먹되 그 고기를 조금도 집 밖으로 내지 말고 뼈도 꺾지 말지며 (출12:46)

사람의 오운(own)이라는 거, 실제로 그에게 무척 소중한 것인데, 이걸 ‘갈빗대’(a rib), 곧 일종의 가슴 뼈인 갈빗대라 하는 이유는, 태고인들 사이에서 가슴은 체어리티(charity)를 상징했기 때문입니다. 그 안에 심장과 폐, 둘이 들어있기 때문이지요. 뼈는 아주 꺼림칙한 걸 의미했는데요, 그 안에 생기라고는 거의 없었기 때문입니다. 반면, 살은 생기있는 그런 걸 의미했습니다. 이들 상징들의 저변은 태고교회 사람들에게 알려진 가장 깊은 아르카나 중 일부, 곧 나중에 다룰 주님의 신적 자비에 속한 어떤 것과 관련된 것입니다. The reason why what is man’s own (and indeed an own which is dear to him) is called a “rib,” which is a bone of the chest, is that among the most ancient people the chest signified charity, because it contains both the heart and the lungs; and bones signified the viler things, because they possess a minimum of vitality; while flesh denoted such as had vitality. The ground of these significations is one of the deepest arcana known to the men of the most ancient church, concerning which of the Lord’s Divine mercy hereafter.
