※ 본 장 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 26 및 30절 등에 나오는 ‘자녀들’’(sons and daughters)의 속뜻은 선과 진리이며, 이는 그 시절, 퍼셉션으로 지각되었고, 태고교회는 이 퍼셉션으로만 설명 가능한 교회였으며, 이 퍼셉션은 이후 이어지는 모든 교회의 원리요, 부모였다.

4절, 아담은 셋을 낳은 후 팔백 년을 지내며 자녀들을 낳았으며 And the days of man after he begat Seth were eight hundred years; and he begat sons and daughters.

본 장 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 26 및 30절 등에 나오는 ‘아들’과 ‘딸’은 같은 걸 상징합니다. 이런 것이 교회요, 이런 것이 ‘자녀들’’(sons and daughters), 즉 이런 것이 선과 진리입니다. 여기서 말씀드린 진리와 선은 뚜렷하게 지각된 것인데요, 태고교회가 바로 이것들로 설명이 되며, 다른 모든 이어지는 교회들의 원리요, 부모였기 때문입니다. The same things are signified by “sons” and “daughters” in this chapter (verses 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 26, 30), but such as is the church, such are the “sons and daughters,” that is, such are the goods and truths; the truths and goods here spoken of are such as were distinctly perceived, because they are predicated of the most ancient church, the principal and parent of all the other and succeeding churches.

말씀에서 ‘딸’(daughters)은 종종 선을 가리킵니다. 시편입니다. In the Word “daughters” frequently denote goods; as in David:

10딸이여 듣고 보고 귀를 기울일지어다 네 백성과 네 아버지의 집을 잊어버릴지어다 11그리하면 왕이 네 아름다움을 사모하실지라 그는 네 주인이시니 너는 그를 경배할지어다 12두로의 딸은 예물을 드리고 백성 중 부한 자도 네 얼굴 보기를 원하리로다 13왕의 딸은 궁중에서 모든 영화를 누리니 그의 옷은 금으로 수 놓았도다 14수 놓은 옷을 입은 그는 왕께로 인도함을 받으며 시종하는 친구 처녀들도 왕께로 이끌려 갈 것이라 15그들은 기쁨과 즐거움으로 인도함을 받고 왕궁에 들어가리로다 16왕의 아들들은 왕의 조상들을 계승할 것이라 왕이 그들로 온 세계의 군왕을 삼으리로다 17내가 왕의 이름을 만세에 기억하게 하리니 그러므로 만민이 왕을 영원히 찬송하리로다 (시45:10-17) Kings’ daughters were among thy precious ones; at thy right hand doth stand the queen in the best gold of Ophir; the daughter of Tyre with a gift; the king’s daughter is all glorious within; of eyelet work of gold is her raiment; instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, (Ps. 45:10-17)

여기서는 사랑과 신앙의 선과 아름다움을 ‘딸’(daughter)로 설명하고 있습니다. 그래서 교회를 선으로 말미암아 ‘딸’(daughters)이라 합니다. 이사야 37장 22절과 다른 많은 데서 ‘딸 시온’, ‘딸 예루살렘’으로 부르는 것처럼 말입니다. ‘내 딸 백성’(사22:4), ‘딸 다시스’(사23:10), ‘딸 시돈’(사23:12) 및 ‘들에 있는 딸’(겔26:6, 8)이라고도 합니다. where the good and beauty of love and faith are described by the “daughter.” Hence churches are called “daughters” by virtue of goods, as the “daughter of Zion” and the “daughter of Jerusalem” (Isa. 37:22, and in many other places); they are also called “daughters of my people” (Isa. 22:4), the “daughter of Tarshish” (Isa. 23:10), the “daughter of Sidon” (verse 12), and “daughters in the field” (Ezek. 26:6, 8).

여호와께서 그에 대하여 이같이 이르시되 처녀 딸 시온이 너를 멸시하며 조소하였고 딸 예루살렘이 너를 향하여 머리를 흔들었느니라 (사37:22)

그러므로 내가 말하노니 돌이켜 나를 보지 말지어다 나는 슬피 통곡하겠노라 내 딸 백성이 패망하였음으로 말미암아 나를 위로하려고 힘쓰지 말지니라 (사22:4)

10딸 다시스여 나일 같이 너희 땅에 넘칠지어다 너를 속박함이 다시는 없으리라, 12이르시되 너 학대 받은 처녀 딸 시돈아 네게 다시는 희락이 없으리니 일어나 깃딤으로 건너가라 거기에서도 네가 평안을 얻지 못하리라 하셨느니라 (사23:10, 12)

6들에 있는 그의 딸들은 칼에 죽으리니 그들이 나를 여호와인 줄을 알리라, 8그가 들에 있는 너의 딸들을 칼로 죽이고 너를 치려고 사다리를 세우며 토성을 쌓으며 방패를 갖출 것이며 (겔26:6, 8)

※ ‘진리와 선’(the truths and goods)처럼 영어로는 복수형이나 번역은 단수로 합니다. 우리말로는 좀 어색하기 때문인데요, 그러나 필요할 경우, 괄호 안에 영어 복수형을 표기합니다.

‘자녀’(sons and daughters)는 그들이 지각했던 진리와 선(the truths and goods)을 의미하며, 실제로 ‘아들’은 진리를, ‘딸’은 선을 의미하고 있음은 예언서들에 나오는 많은 구절들을 보면 분명합니다. 말씀을 보면, 고대에도 그랬지만, 교회의 잉태와 해산(the conceptions and births of the church)을 가리켜 ‘자녀’라고 하기 때문입니다. 이사야처럼 말입니다. That by “sons and daughters” are signified the truths and goods which they had a perception of, and indeed by “sons” truths, and by “daughters” goods, is evident from many passages in the prophets; for in the Word, as also in olden time, the conceptions and births of the church are called “sons and daughters,” as in Isaiah:

3나라들은 네 빛으로, 왕들은 비치는 네 광명으로 나아오리라 4네 눈을 들어 사방을 보라 무리가 다 모여 네게로 오느니라 네 아들들은 먼 곳에서 오겠고 네 딸들은 안기어 올 것이라 5그 때에 네가 보고 기쁜 빛을 내며 네 마음이 놀라고 또 화창하리니 (사60:3-5) The Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising; lift up thine eyes round about and see; all they gather themselves together and come to thee; thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side; then thou shalt see and flow together, and thy heart shall be amazed, and shall be enlarged, (Isa. 60:3–5)

위 본문에서 ‘아들들’은 진리를, ‘딸들’은 선을 의미합니다. in which passage “sons” signify truths, and “daughters” goods.

[2] 시편입니다. In David:

11이방인의 손에서 나를 구하여 건지소서 그들의 입은 거짓을 말하며 12우리 아들들은 어리다가 장성한 나무들과 같으며 우리 딸들은 궁전의 양식대로 아름답게 다듬은 모퉁잇돌들과 같으며 (시144:11-12) Deliver me and rescue me from the hand of the sons of the stranger, whose mouth speaketh vanity; that our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth, that our daughters may be as cornerstones hewn in the form of a temple, (Ps. 144:11–12)

여기 ‘이방인’(the sons of the stranger)은 거짓된 진리들, 곧 거짓들을, ‘우리 아들들’은 진리의 교리들을, ‘우리 딸들’은 선의 교리들을 말합니다. where the “sons of the stranger” signify spurious truths, or falsities; “our sons” signify doctrinals of truth; “our daughters,” doctrinals of good.

[3] 이사야입니다. In Isaiah:

6내가 북쪽에게 이르기를 내놓으라 남쪽에게 이르기를 가두어 두지 말라 내 아들들을 먼 곳에서 이끌며 내 딸들을 땅끝에서 오게 하며, 8눈이 있어도 보지 못하고 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하는 백성을 이끌어 내라 (사43:6, 8) I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Keep not back; bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; bring forth the blind people, and they shall have eyes; the deaf, and they shall have ears, (Isa. 43:6, 8)

위 구절에서, ‘아들들’은 진리를, ‘딸들’은 선을, ‘보지 못하는 백성’(the blind)은 진리를 볼 사람들을, ‘듣지 못하는 백성’(the deaf)은 진리를 순종할 사람들을 의미합니다. in which passage “sons” signify truths; “daughters,” goods; the “blind,” those who would see truths; and the “deaf,” those who would obey them.

[4] 예레미야입니다. In Jeremiah:

부끄러운 그것이 우리가 청년의 때로부터 우리 조상들의 산업인 양 떼와 소 떼와 아들들과 딸들을 삼켰사온즉 (렘3:24) Shame hath devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth; their flocks, their herds, their sons, and their daughters, (Jer. 3:24)

여기 ‘아들들’과 ‘딸들’은 진리와 선을 의미합니다. where “sons” and “daughters” signify truths and goods.

‘자손’과 ‘아들들’이 진리를 의미함은 이사야를 보면 명백합니다. That “children” and “sons” signify truths is plain from Isaiah:

22야곱이 이제는 부끄러워하지 아니하겠고 그의 얼굴이 이제는 창백해지지 아니할 것이며 23그의 자손은 내 손이 그 가운데에서 행한 것을 볼 때에 내 이름을 거룩하다 하며 야곱의 거룩한 이를 거룩하다 하며 이스라엘의 하나님을 경외할 것이며 24마음이 혼미하던 자들도 총명하게 되며 (사29:22-24) Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale; for when he shall see his children the work of my hands in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel; they also that erred in spirit shall know understanding, (Isa. 29:22–24)

여기 ‘야곱의 거룩한 이, 이스라엘의 하나님’은 주님을, ‘자손’(children)은 거듭난 사람들, 곧 이 본문이 설명하고 있는 대로 선과 진리를 이해하게 된 사람들을 말합니다. where the “holy one of Jacob, the God of Israel,” signifies the Lord; “children” signify the regenerate, who have the understanding of good and truth, as is indeed explained.

[5] 다시 Again:

잉태하지 못하며 출산하지 못한 너는 노래할지어다 이는 홀로 된 여인의 자식이 남편 있는 자의 자식보다 많음이라 (사54:1) Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear, for more are the sons of the desolate than the sons of the married wife, (Isa. 54:1)

여기 ‘홀로 된 여인의 자식’(the sons of the desolate)은 초대교회(the primitive church), 즉 이방인들의 교회에 속한 진리를, ‘남편 있는 자의 자식’(the sons of the married wife)은 유대교회에 속한 진리들을 말합니다. where the “sons of the desolate” signify the truths of the primitive church, or that of the Gentiles; the “sons of the married wife,” the truths of the Jewish church.

[6] 예레미야입니다. In Jeremiah:

내 장막이 무너지고 나의 모든 줄이 끊어졌으며 내 자녀가 나를 떠나가고 있지 아니하니 (렘10:20) My tent is laid waste and all my cords are plucked out; my sons are gone forth of me, and are not, (Jer. 10:20)

여기 ‘자녀’(sons)는 진리를 의미합니다. 다시 where “sons” signify truths. Again:

그의 자손은 예전과 같겠고 그 회중은 내 앞에 굳게 설 것이며 (렘30:20) His sons shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, (Jer. 30:20)

여기 ‘자손’(sons)은 고대교회의 진리들을 말합니다. 스가랴입니다. where “sons” signify the truths of the ancient church. In Zechariah:

시온아 내가 네 자식들을 일으켜 헬라 자식들을 치게 하며 너를 용사의 칼과 같게 하리라 (슥9:13) I will stir up thy sons, O Zion, with thy sons, O Javan, and make thee as the sword of a mighty man, (Zech. 9:13)

사랑의 신앙에 속한 진리들을 의미하면서 signifying the truths of the faith of love.
