3하나님이 이르시되 빛이 있으라 하시니 빛이 있었고 Verse 3, And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

 

※ 3절 속뜻

 

아직 거듭남이 시작되지 않은 사람은 선과 진리가 무엇인지를 모릅니다. 그랬던 그에게 선 그 자체, 진리 그 자체이신 하나님, 생명 그 자체, 빛 그 자체이신 하나님으로 말미암아 겉(external) 아닌 속(internal)을 향한 여정이 시작됩니다.

 

 

20. 첫 번째 상태는 사람이 선과 진리라는 것을 뭔가 더 높은 것으로(the good and the true are something higher) 알기 시작하는 때입니다. 거의 외적(外的, altogether external, 겉)이기만 한 사람들은 선과 진리라는 게 무엇인지조차 모르는데요, 그들은 자기 사랑과 세상 사랑(the love of self and the love of the world)에 속한 모든 것이 선이며, 그런 사랑들에 대해 호의적인 게 진리라는 환상(fancy)을 갖고 있기 때문입니다. 그런 선은 악이며, 그런 진리는 거짓임을 그들은 깨닫지 못합니다. 그러나 사람이 새롭게 잉태되면서, 그는 다음과 같은 사실들을 처음으로 알기 시작하는데요, 그것은 먼저 그는 자기의 선은 선이 아니라는 사실과, 또 그가 빛 되신 주님께 더욱 가까이 다가갈수록 주님은 선과 진리 그 자체이신 분이라는 사실입니다. 주님이 계시다(the Lord exists)라는 사실을 사람들이 반드시 알고 있어야 함을 주님은 요한복음에서 친히 가르치셨습니다. The first state is when the man begins to know that the good and the true are something higher. Men who are altogether external do not even know what good and truth are; for they fancy all things to be good that belong to the love of self and the love of the world; and all things to be true that favor these loves; not being aware that such goods are evils, and such truths falsities. But when man is conceived anew, he then begins for the first time to know that his goods are not goods, and also, as he comes more into the light, that the Lord is, and that he is good and truth itself. That men ought to know that the Lord exists he himself teaches in John:

 

너희가 만일 내가 그인 줄 믿지 아니하면 너희 죄 가운데서 죽으리라 (요8:24) Except ye believe that I am, ye shall die in your sins. (John 8:24)

 

또 주님은 선 그 자체, 즉 생명이시며, 진리 그 자체, 즉 빛이시라는 사실과, 그 결과, 주님으로 말미암지 않은 그 어떤 것도 선도, 진리도 아니라는 사실을 다음과 같이 선언하십니다. Also, that the Lord is good itself, or life, and truth itself, or light, and consequently that there is neither good nor truth except from the Lord, is thus declared:

 

1 태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라, 3 만물이 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으니 지은 것이 하나도 그가 없이는 된 것이 없느니라 4 그 안에 생명이 있었으니 이 생명은 사람들의 빛이라, 9 참 빛 곧 세상에 와서 각 사람에게 비추는 빛이 있었나니 (요1:1, 3-4, 9) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word. All things were made by him, and without him was not anythin made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness. He was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. (John 1:1, 3–4, 9)
