5, 6절, 5여호와 하나님이 땅에 비를 내리지 아니하셨고 땅을 갈 사람도 없었으므로 들에는 초목이 아직 없었고 밭에는 채소가 나지 아니하였으며 6안개만 땅에서 올라와 온 지면을 적셨더라 And there was no shrub of the field as yet in the earth, and there was no herb of the field as yet growing, because Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth. And there was no man to till the ground. And he made a mist to ascend from the earth, and watered all the faces of the ground.

그러나 여기 이런 것들은 사람이 영적 상태에서 천적 상태로 상태가 바뀌어 간다는 게 무엇인지를 먼저 알기 전까지는 절대로 지각할 수조차 없는 내용입니다. 그만큼 아주 깊이 감춰진 내용이기 때문입니다. 사람이 영적 상태에 있는 동안은 겉 사람은 아직 속 사람에게 기꺼이 복종하려 하거나 섬기려 하지 않습니다. 그래서 이때는 아직 일종의 싸움이 있습니다. 그러나 그가 천적 상태가 되면, 그때는 겉 사람은 속 사람에게 복종하고 섬기기 시작합니다. 자연히 싸움도 그치고, 평온함이 시작되지요. (cf. 87) But what these things involve cannot possibly be perceived unless it is known what man’s state is while from being spiritual he is becoming celestial, for they are deeply hidden. While he is spiritual, the external man is not yet willing to yield obedience to and serve the internal, and therefore there is a combat; but when he becomes celestial, then the external man begins to obey and serve the internal, and therefore the combat ceases, and tranquility ensues (see n. 87).

...천적 인간을 가리켜 ‘안식일’(the sabbath), 즉 ‘쉼’(rest)이라 하는 또 다른 이유는, 그가 천적 인간이 될 때, 싸움이 그치기 때문인데요, 이때  악한 영들은 물러가고, 선한 영들과 천적 천사들이 다가옵니다. 이들이 있으면 악한 영들은 도저히 머무를 수 없어 멀리 달아나기 때문이며, 그래서 더 이상 싸울 일이 없게 되고, 또한 그동안  전투를 치른 장본인은 이 사람 본인이 아니라 홀로 주님이시기 때문에, 그래서 주님이 쉬시는 것, 곧 주님이 ‘안식하시니라’(rested) 하는 것입니다...

 

※ 거듭 성 프란치스코나 성 분도 요셉 라브르 같은 경우가 아닐까 합니다. 저 역시 사람에게 ‘성’(聖)이라는 칭호를 붙여 부르는 게 좀 거북하지만 관례라 그저 따르는 것이니 큰 의미는 부여하지 마시고요, 대신 이들의 전기를 꼭 읽으시기를 권합니다. 이들은 스베덴보리를 알지도, 또 스베덴보리처럼 무슨 영계를 수십 년 왕래하며 체험한 바도 없지만, 그리고 지금 이런 아르카나도 접한 적 없지만, 참으로 겉 사람과 속 사람의 하나 됨, 합일에까지 이른 것으로 보이는 그런 사람들이기 때문입니다.

 

‘비’(rain), ‘안개’(mist)가 바로 이 평온함(tranquility)을 가리키는 것입니다. 이것은 일종의 수증기와도 같아서 마치 겉 사람이 속 사람으로부터 수분 공급을 받아 촉촉해지는 것과 같지요. 이 평온함, 곧 평화의 샘(the offspring of peace)에서 ‘들의 초목’(the shrub of the field), ‘밭의 채소’(the herb of the field)라 하는 것들이 나오는데요, 이 '들의 초목', '밭의 채소'는 특별히 어떤 천적 영적 기원(a celestial spiritual origin)에서 나오는 합리적 마인드와 기억(the rational mind and of the memory [rationalia et scientifica])에 관한 것들입니다. This tranquility is signified by “rain” and “mist,” for it is like a vapor with which the external man is watered and bedewed from the internal; and it is this tranquility, the offspring of peace, which produces what are called the “shrub of the field,” and the “herb of the field,” which, specifically, are things of the rational mind and of the memory [rationalia et scientifica] from a celestial spiritual origin.

 

※ 땅에 비가 내리고 안개로 축축해져야 들의 초목과 밭의 채소가 자라듯 사람도 심령 상태가 평화, 평온해야 하늘에 기반을 둔 학습 능력과 합리적 마인드를 얻을 수 있습니다. 이는 지금 이 번역의 일만 놓고 보아도 분명합니다. 나랏일과 여타 사적 일로 마음이 힘들면 번역도 잘 안 되지만 심령이 평안하면 주님의 빛도 훨씬 더 환하게 느껴지며, 번역도 참 잘 되기 때문입니다.
