18절, 여호와 하나님이 이르시되 사람이 혼자 사는 것이 좋지 아니하니 내가 그를 위하여 돕는 배필을 지으리라 하시니라 And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him a help as with him.

인간의 오운(own, proprium, ~다움, ~스러움, 그에게 고유한 어떤 성질, 그를 딱 규정할 수 있는 어떤 거), 그 본성(nature)을 육적, 세속적 인간, 영적 인간, 그리고 천적 인간을 가지고 설명할 때, 무수히 많은 걸 말씀드릴 수 있습니다. 육적, 세속적 인간의 경우, 그의 오운은 그가 가진 모든 것입니다. 그는 자신의 오운에 대해서 말고는 아는 게 전혀 없으며, 앞서도 말씀드렸듯, 만에 하나 이 오운을 잃으면 자기는 망할 꺼라고 생각하지요. 영적 인간의 경우, 그의 오운 역시 비슷한데요, 그가 비록 주님을 모두의 생명이시며, 지혜와 이해를 주시고, 결과적으로 생각하고 행동할 힘 주시는 분으로 알고 있을지라도, 그러나 그의 이 지식은 아직은 그저 입술의 고백에 지나지 않기 때문입니다. 마음으로 믿는 게 아니고 말입니다. 그러나 천적 인간은 다릅니다. 그는 주님은 모두의 생명이시며, 생각하고 행동할 힘 주시는 분임을 분별합니다. 그가 이것이 과연 그러함을 지각하기 때문입니다. 그는 결코 자신의 오운을 원치 않습니다. 그럼에도 주님은 한 오운을 그에게 주시는데, 주님이 주시는 이 새 오운은 선과 진리에 관한 모든 퍼셉션과, 그리고 모든 행복과 결합하는 오운입니다. 천사들이 바로 이런 오운 가운데 있으며, 동시에 가장 높은 평화와 평온함 가운데 있습니다. 그 이유는 그들의 오운 안에 주님의 것들이 있기 때문인데요, 주님은 그들의 오운을 다스리시거나, 그들의 오운으로 그들을 다스리는 분이십니다. 이 오운은 가장 천적인 그 자체입니다. 반면, 육적 인간의 것은 지옥적입니다. 이들의 오운 관련해서는 나중에 더 말씀드리겠습니다. Innumerable things might be said about man’s own in describing its nature with the corporeal and worldly man, with the spiritual man, and with the celestial man. With the corporeal and worldly man, his own is his all, he knows of nothing else than his own, and imagines, as before said, that if he were to lose this own he would perish. With the spiritual man also his own has a similar appearance, for although he knows that the Lord is the life of all, and gives wisdom and understanding, and consequently the power to think and to act, yet this knowledge is rather the profession of his lips than the belief of his heart. But the celestial man discerns that the Lord is the life of all and gives the power to think and to act, for he perceives that it is really so. He never desires his own, nevertheless an own is given him by the Lord, which is conjoined with all perception of what is good and true, and with all happiness. The angels are in such an own, and are at the same time in the highest peace and tranquility, for in their own are those things which are the Lord’s, who governs their own, or them by means of their own. This own is the veriest celestial itself, whereas that of the corporeal man is infernal. But concerning this own more hereafter.
