19-20절, 19여호와 하나님이 흙으로 각종 들짐승과 공중의 각종 새를 지으시고 아담이 무엇이라고 부르나 보시려고 그것들을 그에게로 이끌어 가시니 아담이 각 생물을 부르는 것이 곧 그 이름이 되었더라 20아담이 모든 가축과 공중의 새와 들의 모든 짐승에게 이름을 주니라 아담이 돕는 배필이 없으므로 And Jehovah God formed out of the ground every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heavens, and brought it to the man to see what he would call it; and whatsoever the man called every living soul, that was the name thereof. And the man gave names to every beast, and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every wild animal of the field; but for the man there was not found a help as with him.

말씀에서도 ‘이름’(name)은 어떤 것의 에센스를, ‘보기와 이름 부르기’(seeing and calling by name)는 그 퀄리티에 관해 아는 걸 의미합니다. 이사야입니다. In the Word also by “name” is signified the essence of a thing, and by “seeing and calling by name” is signified to know the quality. As in Isaiah:

 

3네게 흑암 중의 보화와 은밀한 곳에 숨은 재물을 주어 네 이름을 부르는 자가 나 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님인 줄을 네가 알게 하리라 4내가 나의 종 야곱, 내가 택한 자 이스라엘 곧 너를 위하여 네 이름을 불러 너는 나를 알지 못하였을지라도 네게 칭호를 주었노라 (사45:3-4) I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, Jehovah, who call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel my chosen, I have even called thee by thy name, I have surnamed thee, and thou hast not known me. (Isa. 45:3–4)

 

이 구절에서 ‘이름을 불러’(to call by name)와 ‘칭호를 주었노라’(to surname)는 그 퀄리티를 예견한다는 의미입니다. 계속해서 In this passage, to “call by name” and to “surname” signifies to foreknow the quality. Again:

 

이방 나라들이 네 공의를, 뭇 왕이 다 네 영광을 볼 것이요 너는 여호와의 입으로 정하실 새 이름으로 일컬음이 될 것이며 (사62:2) Thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of Jehovah shall declare, (Isa. 62:2)

 

앞뒤 구절들에 나오는 것처럼, 또 다른 캐릭터가 될 걸 의미하지요. 계속해서 signifying to become of another character, as appears from the preceding and subsequent verses. Again:

 

야곱아 너를 창조하신 여호와께서 지금 말씀하시느니라 이스라엘아 너를 지으신 이가 말씀하시느니라 너는 두려워하지 말라 내가 너를 구속하였고 내가 너를 지명하여 불렀나니 너는 내 것이라 (사43:1) Fear not, O Israel, for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine, (Isa. 43:1)

 

그가 그들의 퀄리티를 아셨음을 의미하시면서, 계속해서 같은 이사야 말씀입니다. denoting that he knew their quality. Again in the same prophet:

 

너희는 눈을 높이 들어 누가 이 모든것을 창조하였나 보라 주께서는 수효대로 만상을 이끌어 내시고 그들의 모든 이름을 부르시나니 그의 권세가 크고 그의 능력이 강하므로 하나도 빠짐이 없느니라 (사40:26) Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their army by number. He will call them all by name, (Isa. 40:26)

 

그는 그 모든것을 아셨음을 의미합니다. 계시록입니다. meaning that he knew them all. In the Revelation:

 

4그러나 사데에 그 옷을 더럽히지 아니한 자 몇 명이 네게 있어 흰 옷을 입고 나와 함께 다니리니 그들은 합당한 자인 연고라 5이기는 자는 이와 같이 흰옷을 입을 것이요 내가 그 이름을 생명책에서 결코 지우지 아니하고 그 이름을 내 아버지 앞과 그의 천사들 앞에서 시인하리라 (계3:4-5) Thou hast a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments: he that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment, and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. (Rev. 3:4–5)

 

죽임을 당한 어린 양의 생명책에 창세 이후로 이름이 기록되지 못하고 이 땅에 사는 자들은 다 그 짐승에게 경배하리라 (계13:8) Whose names are not written in the lamb’s book of life. (Rev. 13:8)

 

이들 구절에서 ‘이름’(names)은 결코 이름을 의미하는 게 아니라 퀄리티를 의미하는데요, 천국에서도 그 누구의 이름이 아닌, 그의 퀄리티로 알려집니다. By “names” in these passages are by no means meant names, but qualities; nor is the name of anyone ever known in heaven, but his quality.
