한 공동체 안의 구성원은 하나로 움직이므로 구성원이 많으면 많을수록 그 사회는 더 완벽한 사람 형태를 갖춘다. 앞에서 말한 대로, 천국 형태를 이룬 다양성에서 완벽성이 나오며, 다양성은 다수로 이루어지기 때문이다. 더욱이, 천국의 모든 사회는 나날이 그 구성원이 늘어나기 때문에, 나날이 더 완벽해진다. 따라서 각 공동체뿐 아니라 공동체들로 이루어진 천국 전체도 나날이 더 완벽해지는 것이다. 이것을 보면, 천국이 가득 차서 닫힌다는 생각이 얼마나 잘못된 것인지 알 수 있다. 사실은 그 반대로, 천국은 결코 닫히지 않으며, 한없이 채워지고, 그럴수록 더 완벽해지는 것이다. 그래서 천사들이 가장 바라는 것은, 새로운 사람이 천국에 들어와 천사가 되는 것이다. It is worthy of mention that the greater the number in any society in heaven and the more these make a one, the more perfect is its human form, for variety arranged in a heavenly form is what constitutes perfection, as has been shown above (n. 56), and number gives variety. Moreover, every society of heaven increases in number daily, and as it increases it becomes more perfect. Thus not only the society becomes more perfect, but also heaven in general, because it is made up of societies. As heaven gains in perfection by increase of numbers, it is evident how mistaken those are who believe that heaven may be closed by becoming full; for the opposite is true, that it will never be closed, but is perfected by greater and greater fullness. Therefore, the angels desire nothing so much as to have new angel guests come to them.
