※ ‘날과 해에 관한 숫자들’, ‘자녀들’, ‘죽었더라’의 속뜻

7-8절, 7에노스를 낳은 후 팔백칠 년을 지내며 자녀들을 낳았으며 And Seth lived after he begat Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters. 8그는 구백십이 세를 살고 죽었더라 And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years; and he died.

여기 ‘날과 해에 관한 숫자들’(The days and numbers of years)은 앞서(AC.482, 487, 488) 말씀드린 대로, 때와 상태(the times and states)를 의미합니다. ‘자녀들’(Sons and daughters) 역시 앞서(AC.489)와 같은 의미이며, 그는 ‘죽었더라’(died)(AC.494) 하는 문장 역시 마찬가지입니다. The “days” and numbers of “years” signify here as before the times and states. “Sons and daughters” too have the same signification as before; and so likewise as the statement that he “died.”

6절, 셋은 백오 세에 에노스를 낳았고 And Seth lived a hundred and five years, and begat Enosh.

그가 ‘에노스를 낳았고’(begat Enosh)가 그들로부터 ‘에노스’라 하는 또 다른 교회가 이어졌음을 말한다는 건 본 장에서 이름들은 교회 말고 무슨 다른 걸 의미하는 게 아니라는 걸 보면 분명합니다. That he “begat Enosh” signifies that from them there descended another church called “Enosh” is evident from the fact that in this chapter the names signify nothing else than churches.

※ 교회들의 경우, 점점 그리고 시간이 흐르면서 그들은 본질에 있어 위에서(AC.494:2) 언급한 이유로 인해 흐릿해지고 있습니다.

‘셋’(Seth)은 두 번째 교회요, 부모 교회인 태고교회보다는 덜 천적이지만 여전히 태고교회의 일원이라는 것은 위 3절, 셋에 관한 내용(AC.484, 485)에 나와 있습니다. 지금까지 말씀드린 대로(AC.407, 468, 494:2), 교회들의 경우, 점점 그리고 시간이 흐르면서 그들은 본질에 있어 위에서(AC.494:2) 언급한 이유로 인해 흐릿해지고 있습니다. That “Seth” is a second church less celestial than the most ancient church, its parent, yet one of the most ancient churches, may appear from what was said above concerning Seth (verse 3). The case with churches, as we have said, is that by degrees, and in process of time, they decrease as to essentials, owing to the cause above mentioned.

아담은 백삼십 세에 자기의 모양 곧 자기의 형상과 같은 아들을 낳아 이름을 셋이라 하였고 (창5:3)
