사람이 어떻게 몸 안의 삶에서 영생의 삶으로 넘어가는지, 임종 후 소생(蘇生, resuscitate), 즉 영계에서 깨어나는 과정을 사람들로 하여금 알 수 있도록 차례대로 설명하는 것이 제게 허락되었는데요, 이 일련의 내용은 제가 그저 듣기만 한 게 아니라 실제 체험을 통해서 직접 본 것입니다. Being permitted to describe in connected order how man passes from the life of the body into the life of eternity, in order that the way in which he is resuscitated might be known, this has been shown me, not by hearing, but by actual experience.

25절, 아담과 그의 아내 두 사람이 벌거벗었으나 부끄러워하지 아니하니라 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

만일 누군가 말씀 각 구절마다 얼마나 많은 아르카나가 들어있는지를 안다면 그는 굉장히 놀랄 겁니다. 창1 앞 장부터 창2 본 장 끝절인 여기까지 거기 들어있는 아르카나의 숫자가 스윽 지나가고 있지만, 겉 글자 상으로는 거의 안 보이는 걸 보면 말입니다. 이걸 좀 간단히 말씀드리면, 말씀의 겉 글자들은, 정확히 있는 그대로, 영들의 세계에서는 표상됩니다. 어떤 아름다운 순서로 말이지요. 영들의 세계는 표상의 세계입니다. 그리고 거기서 생생하게 표상되는 건 무엇이든 이층천 천사적 영들에 의해 지각되는데, 이들 표상에 들어있는 아주 세밀한 것들까지도 입니다. 그리고 이들에 의해 지각된 건 계속해서 이번엔 삼층천 천사들에 의해 표현 불가한 천사적 아이디어로 풍성하고 꽉 차게 지각되는데, 이는 다시 계속해서 이번엔 주님의 선하신 즐거움에 맞춰 끝없는 다양성 가운데 지각됩니다. 이런 게 바로 주님의 말씀입니다. If anyone could know how many arcana each particular verse contains, he would be amazed, for the number of arcana contained is past telling, and this is very little shown in the letter. To state the matter shortly: the words of the letter, exactly as they are, are vividly represented in the world of spirits, in a beautiful order. For the world of spirits is a world of representatives, and whatever is vividly represented there is perceived, in respect to the minute things contained in the representatives, by the angelic spirits who are in the second heaven; and the things thus perceived by the angelic spirits are perceived abundantly and fully in inexpressible angelic ideas by the angels who are in the third heaven, and this in boundless variety in accordance with the Lord’s good pleasure. Such is the Word of the Lord.

※ 각 천국의 역량마다 감당할 수 있는 지혜의 수준이 다르다는 걸 감안하면 훨씬 더 이해하기 쉬울 것 같습니다. 우리 지상 언어로 기록된 말씀 안에는 처음부터 이 모든것이 다 들어있지만, 지상에서 육체로 사는 우리가 감당할 수 있는 지혜는 가장 낮은 등급인 반면, 사후 일층, 이층, 삼층천 천국으로 올라갈수록 더욱 확장되고, 더욱 크게 초월적이라는 말입니다. 이는 살짝 비유하자면, 저 상공의 인공위성들이 가진 카메라의 해상도 차이 같다고도 할 수 있겠습니다. 해상도가 높을수록 전엔 어렴풋하던 것들이 더욱 뚜렷하게 보이는 것처럼 말입니다.

이런 것들이 본 장 말씀에 들어있는 일부인데요, 그러나 여기 보인 것들은 사실은 극히 일부에 불과합니다. 천적 인간을 다룬 것처럼 말입니다. 오늘날 이 천적 인간에 대해 아는 사람은 거의 없는데요, 여기서 다룬 이 극히 일부에 지나지 않는 것들조차 그러나 어떤 사람들한테는 흐릿하게만 보일지도 모르겠습니다. Such are some of the things contained in this chapter of the Word, but those here set forth are but few. And as the celestial man is treated of, who at the present day is known to scarcely anyone, even these few things cannot but appear obscure to some.
