8125. 이 장에서 다루는 주제는 그 속뜻으로는 영적 교회에 속한 사람들의 첫 번째 시험과 그들을 지옥 한가운데로 인도하기, 그리고 그때 그들을 향하신 주님의 보호와, 또한 체어리티와 분리된 신앙을 가진 사람들이 지옥으로 가라앉는 것인데요, 거기는 악으로 말미암는 거짓이 있는 곳입니다. 영적 교회에 속한 사람들을 ‘이스라엘 자손’(the sons of Israel)으로, 체어리티와 분리된 신앙을 가진 사람들을 ‘애굽 사람들’(the Egyptians)로 표현하고 있고요, 첫 시험은 이스라엘 자손이 바로의 군대를 보고 원망하는 것으로, 지옥은 이스라엘 자손은 안전하게 인도된 반면, 이집트인들은 수장되고만 ‘숲 바다’(the sea Suph)로, 악으로 인한 거짓은 저들을 덮은 물로 각각 상징하고 있습니다. In this chapter, in the internal sense, the subject treated of is the first temptation of those who are of the spiritual church, and the conducting of them through the midst of hell, and their protection then by the Lord; and also the immersion of those who were in faith separate from charity in hell, where are falsities from evils. They who are of the spiritual church are represented by the sons of Israel; they who are in faith separate from charity by the Egyptians. The first temptation is described by the murmuring of the sons of Israel when they saw the army of Pharaoh. Hell is signified by the “sea Suph” through which the sons of Israel were conducted in safety, and in which the Egyptians were immersed. Falsities from evils are signified by the waters which covered the latter.
