16절, 또 여자에게 이르시되 내가 네게 임신하는 고통을 크게 더하리니 네가 수고하고 자식을 낳을 것이며 너는 남편을 원하고 남편은 너를 다스릴 것이니라 하시고 And unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth sons, and thine obedience shall be to thy man [vir], and he shall rule over thee.

그래서 감각 파트가 스스로를 외면하거나 비난할 때, 그 결과, 악한 영들은 강력하게 싸움을 시작하고, 수행 천사들은 고생하게 되는데, 그래서 이 싸움을 가리켜 다음과 같은 말, ‘내가 네게 임신하는 고통을 크게 더하리니 네가 수고하고 자식을 낳을 것이며’(I will greatly multiply thy sorrow, in relation to the conception and birth of sons)라는, 즉 진리를 생각하고, 낳는 것에 관한 말로 설명하고 있는 것입니다. When therefore the sensuous part averts itself or curses itself, the consequence is that evil spirits begin to fight powerfully, and the attendant angels to labor, and therefore this combat is described by the words, “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow, in relation to the conception and birth of sons,” that is, as to the thoughts and productions of truth.

※ '감각 파트가 스스로를 외면하거나 비난할 때', 이 말은 감각 파트가 뱀, 즉 감각이 원하는 걸 따르지 않고, 오히려 예를 들어, 금욕적인 삶, 참된 영성에 기초한 삶을 살고자 하면, 자기 말 잘 들을 땐 가만히 있던 악한 영들이 벌떼같이 달려들어 괴롭힌다는 말입니다.

※ 이 본문은 실제로 자식 낳는 본문이 아니라 선악과를 범한 후, 인간이 진리 편에 서서 살아가기가 실제 영적 전투를 치러야만 가능한, 이렇게나 어려운 일이 되었다는, 그런 본문입니다.

지금까지 교회가 ‘여자’로 상징됨을 보여드렸다면, 여기서는 그랬던 교회가 이제는 오운(own)으로 왜곡되었음을 보여드리는데요, 이 오운은 앞서 '여자'에 의해 그 자체로 상징되었던, 그래서 순수했던 오운입니다. 지금 다루고 있는 내용이 태고교회 후손들의 이야기, 오랜 세월 왜곡되어 망가진 후손들 이야기이기 때문입니다. That the church is signified by the “woman” has been previously shown, but here the church perverted by the own which was itself formerly signified by the “woman,” because the posterity of the most ancient church, which had become perverted, is now treated of.

지금 이 ‘여자’는 교회, 특히 자신의 프로프리움(라틴, proprium, 固有本性, own)을 사랑했던 교회를 말합니다. ‘고통을 크게 더하리니’(greatly multiplying her sorrow)는 전투, 그리고 그로 인한 불안, 염려를, ‘임신’(conception)은 모든 생각을, ‘네가 수고하고 자식을 낳을 것이며’(the sons whom she would bring forth in sorrow)는 그녀가 그 결과, 낳게 될 진리를, ‘남편’은 여기서도 앞서 살핀 대로, 교회가 복종하게 될, 그리고 교회를 다스리게 될 래셔널(the rational, 합리적, 이성적 능력)을 상징합니다. By the “woman” is now signified the church as to proprium, which it loved; by “greatly multiplying her sorrow” is signified combat, and the anxiety it occasions; by “conception,” every thought; by the “sons whom she would bring forth in sorrow,” the truths which she would thus produce; by “man,” here as before, the rational which it will obey, and which will rule.
